Essential Understanding: The students will demonstrate understanding on illustrating random variables.

Essential Question: How do you define random variable?

I. PRELIMIARIES:

Review: What is a sample space? Element?

Focus: Exploring Random Variables

Motivation: The teacher will let the students to answer the entry card.

APK: If three coins are tossed, what numbers can be assigned for the frequency of heads that will
occur? If three cards are drawn from a deck, what number can be assigned for the frequency of
face cards that will occur?

Students will know to classify random variables as discrete or continuous;


Students will be able to find the possible values of random variable .
