Future ‘Will’ Forms

Affirmative: Subject + Will (aux) + verb inf + complement

Negative: Subject + Will (aux) + not + verb inf + complement
Interrogative: Will (aux) + Subject + verb inf + complement + ?

Recuerde:
- Sólo existen tres tipos de verbos en inglés; Infinitivo, Pasado Simple, Pasado Participio, ninguno de
ellos representa al verbo en futuro, es por eso que este tiempo verbal requiere del auxiliar ‘Will’ más
el verbo en infinitivo en sus tres formas: afirmativa, negativa, interrogativa.
- Usaremos ‘Will’ cuando el sujeto sea voluntario para hacer algo en el futuro o para decidirse a hacer
algo a futuro al momento de hablarlo.

I. Complete the following sentences with the correct form of the verb in future Will.
Example: I am feeling sick. I (go) will go to see a doctor.

1) I guess I (ride) _______ _______ my bicycle to save money.

2) All the candies are gone. (buy) _______ you _______ some more for me, please?
3) Listen, team: we (win) _______ _______ the trophy this year!
4) Everyone is hungry. I (get) _______ _______ some cupcakes for breakfast.
5) Pedro, (fix) _______ you _______ the porch tomorrow?
6) Becky, (go) _______ you _______ to Alaska with us this summer?
7) If we take a trip, we (not, stay) _______ ________ in the same place for too long.

*Algunas veces, el futuro simple es expresado con el uso del verbo ‘To be’ (am/ is/ are) con el verbo ‘going
to’ (ej: He is going to). Esta forma es usada cuando una decisión está tomada para hacer algo en el futuro.

Future ‘Going to’ Forms

Affirmative: Subject + verb to be + going to + verb inf + complement

Negative: Subject + verb to be + not + going to + verb inf + complement
Interrogative: Verb to be + Subject + going to + verb inf + complement + ?

¡Atención! si bien ambas formas se ocupan para hablar sobre el futuro, la forma ‘Will’ expresa una idea
momentánea sobre futuro, es decir, podría o no cumplirse. Por su parte, la forma ‘Going to’ es una
determinación que implica compromiso con la decisión tomada, es decir, es muy propensa a realizarse.

Brazil. Tomás decided to call his mother, Julia.

Tomás: Hi, Mom.

Julia: Tomás! Hi! I thought you were busy with your final exams.
Tomás: Well, I am, but I want to talk to you a little about Brazil.
Julia: Sure, okay.
Tomás: Before I go sightseeing in Rio de Janeiro, I am going to visit Búzios, where my uncle live.
Julia: Great! That will be fun. It will not be hard to get to Búzios. It is southeast of Brazil, near
from Rio. From the airport, you will take the Copacabana’s ship to Caravelas Station.
Tomás: That sounds easy. I looked at the Rio’s website. Búzios has beautiful beaches. I am going
to stay in a very famous hostel there.
Julia: Perfect. I bet that you will swim in those beaches! Are you going to contact your uncle,
Dylan?
Tomás: Yes, I already did, we are going to meet early on Saturday. Then, we are going to visit the
