CLOUD SCENARIOS
1. Explain about cloud scenarios?
Ans) Cloud definition: Cloud computing is defined as a technique of storing and accessing
the data, infrastructure (storage or memory), platform(os ) using internet.
Cloud scenarios
A cloud scenario is explained based on two categories
1. Cloud Models
2. Cloud services
Cloud Models:
Different types of cloud models are available through internet according to the
requirement.
1. End user to cloud
2. Enterprise to cloud
3. Private cloud
4. Hybrid cloud
1. End user to cloud : In this scenario the end user is accessing data or application in
the cloud without paying money
Eg: Gmail, Facebook, social networking sites etc…
These are also called public cloud
2.Enterprise to cloud
In this scenario, an enterpriser uses cloud services for its business purpose. Different
types of services or resources used by business enterprisers are virtual services, backup
storage, to run software applications etc..
It is extremely use full for small software forms, government agencies etc.., for sharing
their data.
3.Private cloud
In this scenario, internally maintained by the enterprisers all the resources of the cloud
are shared only by the people in the enterprisers.
Private cloud is maintained by very big enterprises.
Private cloud uses both internet and intranet for sharing of data.
4.Hybrid cloud
A hybrid cloud is a combination of private and public clouds.
In hybrid cloud multi clouds or cloud service providers will be worked together to meet
customers’ requirements.
2) Explain benefits of cloud computing.
Ans) Cloud definition
Cloud computing is defined as a technic of storing and accessing the data,
infrastructure (storage or memory), platform (os ) using internet.
Benefits of cloud
Following are the benefits of cloud,
1. Scalability
2. Simplicity
3. Vendors
4. Security
1.Scalability
Resource available on the cloud can be scaled up (increased) and scaled down
(decreased) based on demand by the customer.
Cloud services provider will automatically change the size of resources (storage
memory or service). In business cloud when it finds a sudden growth in demand.
They are two types of scalability. They are,
1. Vertical Scalability
2. Horizontal scalability
Vertical Scalability
Vertical scalability means adding more powers or resources like storage, processor
capacity to the existing system to meet the demand of various customers
Horizontal Scalability
Horizontal scalability means adding additional services to meet demand of various
customers and for load balance.
2.Simplicity
Using cloud computing, it is simple for a customer to establish and run a IT
business.
Cloud computing reduces the investment cost for a business. The cloud solutions make
it possible to get business applications started immediately according to their requirements.
In cloud computing, there is no need for a customer to buy, configure, maintain new
systems or devices for business.
3.Vendors
In cloud computing vendors are the cloud service providers (csp’s).
These vendors sell computing services and resources to IT business organizations.
Different vendors and their services are,
a. SAAS:Software As A service
Eg: Google, adobe, Microsoft, salesforce.com
b. IAAS: Infrastructure As A service
Eg: Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM smart cloud, Rack
Space, Cisco cloud etc..
c. PAAS: Platform As A Service
Eg: Amazon EC3, IBM cloud, Slaseforce.com, Red Hat cloud, VM ware etc..
4.Security
In cloud computing, there are no. of security risks for data we store.
Cloud vendor provides following security functions to keep the data safe. They are,
a. User authentication
b. Encrypted data
c. Web logs
d. Intrusion detection (hackers)
e. Log analysis etc..
