Introduction ..................................................................................................4
Prerequisites ................................................................................................4
Oracle HCM extract definitions specify how to extract HCM data from the
database, transform the extract results to the desired format (e.g., XML,
PDF), distribute the output by e-mail, fax, and other delivery nodes.
Typically, you create and test extract definitions in a test environment and
after certifying the definitions, you migrate the extract definitions to the
production environment for live deployment. This document explains how
you can achieve this migration using the export/import facility in the
Manage HCM extract definitions user interface. You can use the facility to
migrate content from any environment to another, with both the source and
target environments in the same release levels.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
If the extract already exists in the target environment, you cannot overwrite it. You must either give it
an original name, or delete the existing extract before import.
PREREQUISITES
• Create and certify the HCM extract definitions in the source environment (usually a test or
development environment).
• Re- create any dependent collateral such as Fast Formulas, lookup values, value sets, balance
groups, or BIP report templates. If the collateral isn’t in the destination environment when the extract
is imported, the parameters, artifacts, and extract options will need to be recreated.
Dependent collaterals can be migrated manually. This document describes how to migrate artifacts
using the Functional Setup Manager.
• Access to Data Exchange work area or the Setup and Maintenance work area for the user migrating
the HCM extract definitions.
6. Click Done.
11. Items to report, include, but are not limited to. If there are any dependencies, those objects
will automatically be selected. Once all selections are made, click Submit.
4. Click Choose file, and choose the configuration package you downloaded.
7. Click Submit.
3. Locate you HCM Extract Templates. Make a note of the folder path in which the templates
are located. You can archive or unarchive individual templates or a folder with multiple
templates. Select the artifact and then Archive from the Tasks pane.
The extract definition is downloaded to your local machine, based on your browser settings.
2. Browse your computer, select the archived catalog file and click OK.
1. From the Navigator, select the Data Exchange work area. Alternatively, select Setup and
Maintenance using the Manage HCM Extract Definitions task.
3. Select for the HCM Extract Definition you want to export. Note that you can import and export
extract definitions individually.
The extract definition is downloaded to your local machine, based on your browser settings.
1. In the target environment, navigate to the Manage Extract Definitions task as described above in
steps 1-2. Then click Import Extract.
If the import is successful, then a confirmation message displays. You can now download the log
and check for any errors and correct them. If logged errors are not corrected, it may result in some
object loss. An example of this, if an extract definition is imported which uses an extract rule artifact
and the underlying fast formula is not in the destination system, the artifact will not be present in the
extract.
