Psychosexual of Eric Erickson (Observation)

Observations make it easy for the observer to take into account the developmental stages their
subject is undergoing. In my case, my subject is Jayden Mar, when he is a 3 year and 8 months
old. Jayden Mar is not currently in school, although He does attend a daycare in the morning,
and then I babysit Him in the afternoon. He lives with Him motHim and fatHim. Him motHim is a
nurse, and Him fatHim is a baseball coach. They have been happily married for a couple of years
now, and Jayden Mar is their only child. For these particular observations I thought he would be
the perfect candidate to observe. (From the interview of his motHim.)

Moreover, the most fascinating time to see the different type of changes in a child is during
their first couple of years. The reason I choose this subject is because He is a very loving little
boy. According to the babysitter, "I tried babysitting him one time and it became a daily thing,
which then turned out to be my job last last week. I have watched him grow in the last 2 years
and I am amazed of how he has turned out to be. He is very friendly with everyone around Him
and loves to have conversations with anyone who greets him."'Not to mention that children are
very interesting to observe, due to the fact they are all different and do different things
differently. To continue, based on the three independent observations time are many things I
was able to witness. When it comes to physical domains, Him body is developing correctly and
his height is average for a child Him age.

An observation to Lev Vygotsky Socio-Cultural Theory

As relation to other Theories,Vygotsky's theory has been especially influential in the study of
children's cognition. Vygotsky agreed with Piaget that children are active, constructive beings.
But unlike Piaget, who emphasized children's independent efforts to make sense of their world,
Vygotsky viewed cognitive development as a socially mediated process- as dependent on the
assistance that adults and more-expert peers provide as children tackle new challenges.

when Jayden Marstart started to communicate himself in much the same way he converse with
others, he greatly enhance the complexity of his thinking and his ability to control his own
behavior. As Jayden Mar talk out loud to himself, I observed that he do this for self guidance.
Because I believe that language helps children think about mental activities and behavior and
select courses of action, I observed it to my subject as the foundation for all higher cognitive
processes, including controlled attention, deliberate memorization and recall, categorization,
planning, problem solving, and self-reflection. As he get older and find tasks easier, self-directed
speech is internalized as silent, inner speech- the verbal dialogues we carry on with ourselves
while thinking and acting in everyday situations.

Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Theory (Observation)

What I learned from Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological model is that the theory focuses on the
impact that environment plays on the growth and development. Bronfenbrenner theorized that
there were five environmental factors that impacted an individual growth and development; the
microsystem, the mescosystem, the exosystem, the marcosystem, and the chronosystem. If
there is change in any one of the five environmental systems, it can potentially cause a change
in the others. There are many factors that can affect one’s development, beginning from the
home and extending on to the school and to the world. I’ve learned that the Bronfenbrenner’s
theory can have a great impact on the development of a child as well as on the development of
an adult. The microsystem is the most proximal level, as the microsystem involves the child’s
home and environement; this level has the most impact on child development as the child
begins to spur at home and takes in what he or she learned from the home and applies it to the
real world. The chronosystem can have the most impact on adult development as the
chronosystem is the change in time and generation. After one takes in the development
advantages of the previous level, and though one has the awareness of who he or she is and in
turn develops completely. Every level of the Bronfenbrenner’s theory shapes the development
of a child differently, each level affects the other and in turn affects the developing person.
As an observation,a child’s development and growth is so important. Jayden Mar have physical
and emotional needs. When these needs are not being met, it can hinder the
growth/development of that child. Bronfenbrenner emphasized the importance a child’s
environment has on him. No one child is the same so the changes can have different effects on
each child. During adolescence, maybe, he are impressionable and constantly learning from
those around him. That’s why it is so important as a observer to know your subject. If a child is
not getting the love or attention they need at home, you can be that person to give it to them.

An Observation to Factors Affecting Socio-Emotional Developmnet

Jayden Mar tend to have rapid mood swings. While his emotions can be very intense, these
feelings also tend to be quite short-lived. I might be stunned at how my subject can go from
screaming hysterically about a toy he wants at one moment to sitting in front of the television
quietly watching his favorite show just moments later.

At this age , he can be very possessive and have difficulty sharing. Learning to get along with
other children is an essential skill, however. In just a few short years, he will go from spending
most of his time with family and close friends to spending a large chunk of his day interacting,
learning, and playing with other kids at school.

Emotional development and social skills are essential for school readiness. Examples of such
abilities include paying attention to adult figures, transitioning easily from one activity to the
next, and cooperating with other kids.

An Observation to Exeptional Socio-Emotional Development

As an observer, So how can you help your child learn how to play well with others? Social
competence not only involves the ability to cooperate with peers; it also includes such things as
the ability to show empathy, express feelings, and share generously. Fortunately, there are
plenty of things that you can do to help your kids develop these all-important social and
emotional skills.

Well, I asked him that if he already experienced to be bullied in the school and he said that
sometimes. His classmates always call his name with additional unnecessary name. When he
experience constant struggle and failure, he may develop negative self-esteem, even when
others offer support and encouragement. Low self-esteem and a lack of confidence only serve
to further interfere with learning and academic success and can reinforce a cycle of failure and
negativity. For him, strong feelings of frustration, anger, sadness, or shame can lead to
psychological difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
