Materials: Manipulative, money, activity sheets, dies, cards
Procedure:
Review (Preliminaries) Sing a song
Talk about the song

Everyday , we deal with chance occurences -events whose likehood of happening depends largely a chance.
Example Will it rain tomorrow?If you flip a coin, will it come out head or tail?

Today we will learn more about subtraction of whole numbers and you will be making problems involving
subtraction.
Why is it important to know subtraction and problem solving? (Teacher may accept any idea from the pax)
“I do” Modelling & Modelling : Post the problem. Teacher reads the problem, then children follow after the children
Presentation Give each group popsicle sticks. Using your popsicle sticks solve the following problem

Ana has 20 sticks, she gave 13 sticks to her classmates. How many sticks were left to her?

Now let us try to make your own problem involving subtraction by completing the statement.
(Teacher gave 2-3 problem for modelling)
“We do” Guided Practice Let the children work with a partner of their choice. (4-5 problems)

Linda has 30 bananas, she fed the monkey with ___ bananas, How many bananas were left.
(Let the children complete and solve the problem then teacher will do corrective instruction)

Group 2 With the use of picture cues, create a problem involving subtraction of 2 digit number

with the use of manipulative objects
