Dear Participants,

As you gear up for the HackQuest 4.0 Round 1 of the contest, please follow the below points in order to optimize
time and have a smooth start.

The HackQuest application can be accessed through https://www.tcshackquest.com. The application will be
active from 9 AM IST on 2nd November but you will only be able to login at 10:00 AM IST. You will have 6 hours
to complete all the challenges starting from 10:00 AM IST on 2nd November 2019 and will finish by 4 PM IST on
2nd November. The 6 hour window is fixed for all participants.

In case you missed to login at 10:00 AM, you will have less time in your hand to finish the challenges. For example
if you login at 11:00 AM then you will have only 5 hours to finish all the challenges.

Round 1 starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM on 2nd November (IST)

Instructions:

• On or after 10 AM IST on 2nd November, please verify that you can log into the HackQuest application with
your CT/DT ID (as username) and password/secret shared with you on Campus Commune contest page or
over email
• Your login credentials are case sensitive. Please ensure you are using as supplied to you
• Please go through the instructions of the contest carefully before logging in
• Application is best viewed in Google Chrome v 75.0 and Mozilla Firefox 70.0. Ensure you are using a
compatible browser. We recommend you to use Google Chrome with screen resolution of 1266 x 768
• Ensure that your browser supports JavaScript. Site will not work properly if your browser has blocked
JavaScript
• You are free to use tools and programming languages of your choice, but usage of any automated scanners
and tools which send a huge amount of traffic is strictly prohibited. Your access may be blocked from the
application
• You need to prepare a report with the findings, report template will be available for you to download in
HackQuest application or in the Campus Commune contest page. We recommend once you capture the
flag collect screenshots relevant to your approach and put it in the report. This will save you time in
preparing report after 4 PM IST
• At 4:00 PM IST you will be logged out of the contest automatically. No additional time will be given for
capturing screenshots or submitting flags
• We suggest you to bookmark the application URL for quick access of the application

1. Where can I access the HackQuest application?
HackQuest application can be accessed through https://www.tcshackquest.com using latest
version of Google Chrome
2. What is the duration of contest?
The application will be active from 9 AM IST on 2nd November but you will only be able to login at
10:00 AM IST. You will have 6 hours to complete all the challenges starting from 10:00 AM IST on
2nd November 2019 and will finish by 4 PM IST on 2nd November. The 6 hour window is fixed for all
participants.
3. I am unable to login to the application?
Please verify the CT/DT and password that you are using to login. In case you forgot your login
credentials, please refer to the mail sent by Campus Commune received in this regard.
4. What is a Flag?
When you solve a challenge successfully, you will receive a flag. All flags will be in the format of
hq4{…...}.
5. How do I submit a flag?
Once you receive flag, submit it in the flag submission box present in each of the challenge pop ups.
6. What is the score for each challenge?
The scores associated with each of the challenges are given in the right side of each challenge.
7. I am submitting the flag, but I am getting an 'Incorrect flag' message!
Please check if you are submitting the correct flag. All flags will be in the format of hq4{….}. You
need to submit the flag as shown to you.
8. When submitting a flag I am getting a 'Too Many Attempts' message
You will get this message only when you try to submit flags in a short span of time. Please wait at
least for a minute before submitting a new flag.
9. What do I need to write in the report?
Please download the report template from your profile section of this application. Prepare a report
with your approach and relevant screenshots as required.
10. Do I need to prepare separate report for each challenge?
No, you only need to prepare a single report for all 10 challenges (or the ones you were able to
finish) with details of the approach you employed to find the flag along with screenshots relevant
to your approach in solving the challenges.
11. Can I upload report twice in Campus Commune portal?
No, you can upload report only once In Campus Commune portal. Once you upload the report,
submission link will be disabled automatically.
12. Can I use my custom report template?
No, Please use the template that is provided in HackQuest portal or in the Campus Commune portal.
13. Will I get extra time to take screenshots?
No. You will have access to this application till 16:00 hrs IST. You need to submit the report by 18:00
hrs IST. No additional time after 16:00 hrs IST will be given to capture screenshots or submitting
flags.
14. How do I know the status of my challenge completion?
Once you access a challenge, color of the challenge box will turn to a different color and once you
complete it, the color of box will turn to Green automatically. You can also see the total no. of
challenges solved under your profile section.
15. Can I logout and login again into the application?
Yes. You can login / logout any time before contest finishes at 16:00 hrs IST. There is no limit in
number of times you can login / logout from the application.
16. Can I use any tool or any scanner?
Yes, you are free to use any tools of your choice, but usage of any automated scanners is strictly
prohibited.
