FIRE

7
Recovery :

The BDRRMC together with the city government shall coordinate to

support the victims of such calamities in terms of psychological help and assist
them until their return to normal conditions on a regular day-to-day living.

Industrial Accident:

Mitigation:

FIRE- An information gathering will be initiated to assess the

community’s level of preparedness and perceptions to risk. Fires cause the
greatest loss of life and property. Dense building concentrations, narrow
roads, flammable building materials, aging water supply and electrical system,
as well as the lack of resources to upgrade preparedness and response skills
have resulted in growing risk and large scale, multiple structure fires.

Preparedness:

FIRE – We participate with surrounding communities and La Loma Fire

Station in conducting drills.

Response:

FIRE – Immediately call the attention of La Loma Fire Station and

nearby fire-sub-stations. Encourage the active support of fire volunteers with
the community.

Recovery:

FIRE – The Chairman of BDRRMC will assist the community in their

recovery efforts.

Hazard and Vulnerability Assessment:

Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery
After conducting an annual Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA), we determine the appropriate level
of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery

Natural Disasters

Mitigation

Flood – During tropical storm, heavy rain or habagat, the low elevation of Bgy. Sta. Teresita
especially along Mayon/Dapitan Street makes it as a catch basin of flood waters from D. Tuazon
Street and N. Roxas Streets. Clogged drainages is also a major cause of flooding. House owners
should keep the cleanliness of their surroundings to avoid flooding and clogging of drainages.

Earthquake – Earthquakes cannot be modified or easily detected. Therefore, the only means of
reducing the adverse effect is through less the community vulnerability . Massive information
dissemination and communication is vital.

Preparedness:

Flood – Regular de-clogging and conduct of clean-up drive

Earthquake – encourage the residents participation in conducting earthquake drill and
distribution of reading materials for said preparedness.

Response:

Flood – residents of the affected areas were informed to prepare and move to higher ground and
immediately evacuate.
Earthquake – The BDRRMC will ensure that all of its members and staff are trained and competent
to undertake their assigned tasks.

COMMUNITY INITIATED EFFORTS:

 Full implementation of Solid Waste Management Segregation Scheme starts on July 2015
 Launching of Barangay Sta. Teresita Clean-up Drive every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
 Donation of supplies and materials for the repair of street lights and painting of gutters
 Donation of relief goods for the affected families

9
CONCLUSION:
Based on the study conducted, the following conclusions can be drawn:

 The low elevation of Mayon near corner Dapitan Street makes it a catch basin of flood
waters from nearby barangays

 Poor drainage system along Dapitan near corner Mayon , Kanlaon and Dr. Alejos Streets .

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 Promote the full participation of each household and business establishments in the
barangay.

 entation of the law on solid waste management should be imposed

 Regular clean-up drive within the barangay especially of flood prone areas

 Massive Information Dissemination on Solid Waste Management Act of 2000

 Rehabilitation of drainages along Kanlaon and Dr. Alejos , there is already an ongoing
rehabilitation along Dapitan Street from Mayon to Blumentritt Street.
