MONOTHEISM (TAWHEED)
Monotheism is derived from Greek, meaning 'singular,' and is defined as the belief in the
existence of only one GOD. Many religions practice monotheism, but individuals who practice
Islam believe in a very strict form of monotheism wherein the only GOD or deity a follower can
worship is Allah, the Arabic word for God.
The concept of Tawheed has a great influence on a person’s life and this influence is not
only restricted to one’s individual life but also to one’s social life.
WHAT IS ISLAM?
The word “Islam” is an Arabic word which means “submission to the will of
GOD(Allah)”. This word comes from the same root as the Arabic word “salam”, which means
“peace”. As such, the religion of Islam teaches that in order to achieve true peace of mind and
surety of heart, one must submit to GOD(Allah) and live according to His Divinely revealed
Law. The most important truth that GOD(Allah) revealed to mankind is that there is nothing
divine or worthy of being worshipped except for Almighty GOD(Allah), thus all human beings
should submit to Him.
Anyone who submits completely to GOD(Allah) and worships Him alone is a Muslim.
So such man/women are the believers of Monotheism.
ENLARGED VISION:-
As I’m a believer of Monotheism (Tawheed) and I believe in one GOD only, Who is the
Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Master of the East and the West and Sustainer of the
entire universe. After this belief I do not regard anything in the world. My sympathy, love and
service are not confined / limited to any particular sphere or group. All of that has enlarged my
vision as well as widens my intellectual horizon.

This belief produces in myself the highest degree of self-respect and self-esteem. Because
I know that who has the believe that Allah alone is the Possessor of all power, and that none
besides Him can benefit or harm a person, or provide for his needs, or give and take away life or
wield authority or influence. This conviction makes me indifferent to, and independent and
fearless of, all powers other than those of God.
SENSE OF MODESTY:-
This belief also generates in myself a sense of modesty and humbleness. Being a
Monotheist I never become or feels proud, haughty or arrogant. The pride of power, wealth and
worth can have no room in my heart, because I know that whatever I have is given to me by My
Allah, and that Allah can take away just as He can give.
This declaration inspires bravery in myself. There are two things which can make a man
coward:
(i) fear of death and love of safety, and
(ii) the idea that there is someone else besides God who can take away life.

Belief in La ilaha illa Allah Cleanse / washout the mind of both these ideas. The first idea
goes out or extinguish of my mind because I know that my life, property and everything else
really belong to Allah then, I becomes ready to sacrifice his all things for pleasure of Allah. I get
rid of the second idea because I know that no weapon, no man or animal has the power of taking
away his life; except Allah. Hence, I have no more fear and become courageous.
OBEDIENCE:-
The most important effect of La ilaha illa Allah is that it makes me obey and able to
observe God’s Law. As I believe in Allah so, I’m Pretty sure that Allah knows everything hidden
or open and is nearer to me than my own jugular vein. If I commit a sin in a private/isolated
corner and in the darkness of the night, He knows it; He even knows our thoughts and intentions,
bad or good. I can hide from everyone, but I cannot hide anything from Allah; I can escape from
everyone, but it is impossible to get escape from Allah’s grip that’s why every muslim including
me become obedient to the Allah’s Laws.
END OF EVIL INTENTIONS:-
The belief in La ilaha illallah creates an attitude of peace and satisfaction, cleanse /
Washout the mind of jealousy and envy / greed & keeps away the temptations (fitna) of resorting
to base and unfair means for achieving success. I understands that wealth is in Allah’s hands, and
He apportions it out as He likes; that honour, power, reputation and authority -everything -is
subjected to His will, and He bestows them as He will; and it is my duty to Endeavour / struggle
fairly. I also know that success and failure depend on Allah’s grace; if He wills to give, no power
in the world can prevent Him from so doing; and if He does not will it, no power can force Him
to.
CONCLUSION
From all above discussion It is concluded that all Human lives in a society and, in that
society Tawheed/Monotheisms is the foundation of brotherhood and equality, because it does not
permit all those who take others as lords besides Allah, since worship is for Allah alone and
worship to Allah alone must be from all of mankind, and the head of them is Muhammad
(PBUH) His Messenger and His chosen one.
