To Whom It May Concern:

I am so pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Meghan Hoaglin. Ms. Hoaglin was a member of my United
States History class at Glencoe High School.

Meghan is an exceptional young woman who demonstrates a strong commitment to her studies and extra-curricular
activities. She has maintained an outstanding 3.67 GPA while taking incredibly challenging courses including AP Human
Geography, AP Language and Composition, and the career focused and rigorous Health Sciences courses. She has an
excellent work ethic along with excellent interpersonal skills that contribute to her success in the classroom. Meghan is
naturally curious and asks questions to understand issues from different perspectives.

Ms. Hoaglin impresses me in that she has a unique mix of natural intellect, exceptional work ethic, and maturity. Meghan
understands that a singular method for learning is insufficient. She stands out from her peers with her ability to adjust,
adapt, and find a way to learn material and engage with others in a manner that is far beyond her years. I have seen
Meghan have a setback academically and have seen her response. She will immediately identify there is a problem, seek
help and guidance from teachers and peers, and then put in the time to adjust how she may approach a class. Meghan is
uniquely confident in speaking with adults, and uniquely respectful even when faced with a challenging situation. She is
able to ask questions, advocate, and make a case with adults in a positive professional manner, also far beyond what is
expected of someone her age. These skills also translate to how she relates to peers. She is a natural leader and others
look to her as an example of how to be a successful student.

In addition to her academic talents, Meghan has impeccable character. Time and again, I have witnessed Meghan
respond to situations with a moral compass that is clear. Meghan has responded with clarity when a peer has been
dishonest, and when she has been put into morally compromising positions, not of her doing. It is rare in our current
culture to have a young person consistently choose honesty, responsibility, and respect over what might benefit one in
the short-term. Even in the smallest of situations, Meghan can be counted on to respond with clarity and consideration
for others. Ms. Hoaglin clearly knows who she is and the values that she expects herself to carry out. While some may
exercise these traits with judgment for others, Meghan is able to do so with a grace in her heart. She may disagree with
how another student may handle a situation, but I have yet to see her pass judgment on anyone. She is a true example of
a person who has respect for all people. Her character, integrity, and maturity set her apart from her peers, as it is rare
that a young person will take a risk to stand by their values. I am so impressed with Meghan as a student and young
woman.

Ms. Hoaglin is one of the top five all-around students at Glencoe High School, outstanding in every facet of her academic
life and a role model. Her work ethic and maturity is unmatched by her peers, which will make her a successful student in
college. I highly recommend her for scholarship consideration, as an investment in Meghan will pay dividends in the
future. I believe you will find that she will not only meet, but also exceed, any expectations you may have for her.
