TITLE:

THE POTENTIAL OF GUAVA LEAVES

(PSIDIUM GUAJAVA) EXTRACT AND ALOE VERA
AS A SHAMPOO

Introduction

Aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars,
lignin, saponins, salicylic acids and amino acids. Vitamins: It contains vitamins A (beta-
carotene), C and E, which are antioxidants. It also contains vitamin B12, folic acid, and choline.
Guava leaves contain both carotenoids and polyphenols like
gallocatechin, guaijaverin.leucocynidin and amritoside the major classes of antioxidant pigments
giving them relatively high potential antioxidant value among plat food.

Background of the study

Nowadays people are focusing in herbal plants especially those who are common in the
environment. One of the example is the guava plant (Psidium guajava).Based on the research this
plant is good for healing and treating wounds.

Aloe vera is a succulent plant with thick, fleshy, serrated, lanceolate-shaped leaves of green-
greyish color. Aloe vera inner gel is obtained from the lower leaves of the plant by slicing the
leaf open. The gel is clear, odorless, and tasteless and should be free of leaf skin or yellow parts.
Statement of the problem

It is common to children to have “bukayo” on their head because it’s hot here and they often
wash themselves they also used different shampoo that’s why, we want to provide or to give
them a shampoo that can resolve their problem about their wounds on their head or that so called
“bukayo”.

It answers the following questions:

1. How many times they will use it?

2. Is there any bad side effects?
3. It can really treat wounds on their head?

Hypothesis

As of now we think that its good on treating wounds on their head because guava leaves extract
and aloe vera has many good elements such as vitamins A (beta-carotene), C and E, which are
antioxidants. And for guava leaves extract it contain both carotenoids and polyphenols like
gallocatechin, guaijaverin, leucocynidin and amritoside the major classes of antioxidant. So we
provide a shampoo that can treat their wounds and it will help them.

Significance of the study

You can make a shampoo from guava leaves extract and aloe vera to treat wounds.People who
has “bukayo” on their head can use this to get rid of the wound. You or all of us will have a
benefits of this shampoo if we ever make this amd be proven.

Scope and Delimitation of Study

First clean your head with a clean water and then apply the shampoo for three min. and then
wash your head and last dry you hair using towel.
Definition of terms
Lack of nutrients in their scalp, too much shampoo and they didn’t wash it properly.

Related Literature
Country is so reach in medicinal plants that several books on medical plants have already been
published in the country. This also led to the production of natural food supplements and drugs
using the identified medicinal plants as the major component. While this study is an attempt to
identify another medicinal plant source which is abundant to the country, the guava.

This chapter provides the information regarding Aloe barbadensis L., Asparagus officinalisA.and
Momordica charantia C. herbs from the previous studies and researchers. This will also present
studies conducted on these three herbs relative to their potential antimalarial properties.
Furthermore, it discusses on Anopheles mosquito and its role as a vector in malaria cycle, the
Lactate Dehydrogenase Assay protocol and information about Chloroquine as the positive
control is also provided.
