I. INTRODUCTION

Alternative Learning System is a program to help disabled people, cultural

minority members, out-of-school youth, former inmates and/or rebels, industry-based
workers, and others who cannot afford or missed the opportunity to go through formal
elementary and secondary schooling.
Guided by the mission and vision of ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYTEM,
implementers conducted various programs, activities and projects to provide
enriching learning experiences for the learners.
Spearheaded by the supervisors, together with the school heads, teachers, parents
and stakeholders, producing learners who are analytical, decisive, determined and
skilled in achieving a better quality of life is never impossible.
It is always our desire that each of them will develop not only a love for learning
but most of all instill ideal attitudes and values that will inspire them throughout their
lives.

II. OBJECTIVES
1. Provide accessible learning opportunity to those in the remote areas and
continue the learning sessions for the enrolled Out of School Youth and adults
under the Accreditation and Equivalency Program.
2. Conduct early registration and literacy mapping

B. CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED AND SOLUTIONS MADE

Facing challenges, big or small, is an important part of a program and its growth. Challenges,
indeed, have a powerful ability to shape us.
Mostly it has something to do on dealing with the learners, community, and sustainability of the
ALS programs
Irregular attendance of learners on the learning group session is one of the challenges the
implementers are experiencing today. Its cause appears to be lack of initiative to sustain
participation to ALS program due to economic constraints. Parents/Learners, especially those
who are working already feel that attending classes implies daily income loses. To address such,
ALS implementers downloaded activities from the LR portable and distributed the printable
modules during their home visitation.
Insufficient number of learning number is also quite affecting the program, but with the use of
internet modules is just one click away.
We encountered different challenges in dealing also with some of the community and other
stakeholders, but in close coordination with the local government through the help of the
coordinators/implementers ,socialization and mobilization, were successfully conducted.
Home visitation, Feeding, Parent education and participation, Free school supplies, No
Collection No Uniform Policy, No school uniform policy are some of the interventions helped in
the sustainability of learners to be in school.

I. CONCLUSION
To ensure effective and efficient implementation, coordination and participation with
the community and other stakeholders is a must.
Implementers attitude and dedication towards educating the ALS learners performs a
vital role in the development and progress of ALS programs. Catering educational
services to “ Unprivileged” Filipino learners remains a challenge to ALS teachers,
however, with the help of the local government ,we will do our best to provide a
meaningful learning experience to such diverse group.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Increasing allocation budget for ALS program including the supply of learning
materials and facilities will surely help in improving the learning outcomes.
