ROMEO AND JULIET

Prologue
Man 1
Oh! I don't get people these days,
fight, break and hurt each other in so many ways,
When did it all began,
When the meaning of love has been gone?

Man 2

Oh! you're right,

I still remember that time,
When it used to be a crime,
When you fall in love with the enemy?
Oh! What an agony!

Man 1
Romeo and Juliet,
I still remember them,
It's something you can never forget,
Maybe I should tell them.

Man 2

Two households both alike in dignity,

In fair Verona where they lay their scene,
From ancient grudge,
break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean:
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes,
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life:
Whose mis-adventured piteous overthrows,
Doth with their death bury their parents strife
(Actors and Actresses prepares for the first scene)

ACT 1
Scene 1
A Public Place

(SAMPSON and GREGORY ENTERS)

Sampson

We will not be insulted,

Especially with the men of Montagues,
Believe me, we'll never be defeated,
For what may happen, we'll never leave any clues

Gregory

I do hate them too,

What do you want to do?

Sampson
I'll bite my thumb
(SAMPSON and GREGORY PASSES BY)

SAMPSON
(bites his thumb in front of Montague's men)
(ABRAHAM and BALTHASAR ENTERS)
Abraham

Sir, did you bite your thumb?

You know we're not dumb

Sampson
Is the law of our side if I say Ay?
(WHISPERS to GREGORY)

Gregory

No,
You better keep it low

Abraham
Did you bite your thumb Sir?

Sampson

I do,
but not for you

Abraham

Benvolio

I do but keep peace

Tybalt

Followed by you in the Afternoon Lord Montague.
(PRINCE ESCALUS and the CAPULETS EXIT)
(the MONTAGUES REMAIN)

HOUSE OF MONTAGUES

Lord Montague

Benvolio
I wasn't there before the fight,
When I came, I tried to stop it with all my might,
But then fiery Tybalt came with his sword prepared,
And then which fight has led

Lady Montague

Romeo

Romeo
One sided,
That's why my world collided

Benvolio

Alas

Romeo

Something has happened,

Tell me not, but I already Heard it.
Benvolio

Tell me, who is that you love?

Romeo
I do love a woman

Benvolio
I hit so near

Romeo
But she won't love me

Benvolio

Then forget her

Romeo
Oh, then Teach me how to.

Benvolio
You should not focus on her,
Choices are others,
I mean take a look out there,
Perhaps thou could be one of the lovers
(BENVOLIO and ROMEO exit)

Romeo
Oh, she light up my darkness,
She wiped out my sadness
(follows JULIET)
(TYBALT is standing BEHIND ROMEO)

Tybalt

Just by the voice,

It's surely a Montague,
It shall be true

Lord Capulet

Why, how now, kinsman, why are you so angry?

Tybalt

Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe

And I can feel He came to destroy our party,
Such a nature, they should throw

Lord Capulet

Young Romeo is it? Let him be

Tybalt

I'll not endure him

Lord Capulet

He shall be, but not now, Am I the master here or you? Go

to.

Tybalt

Why uncle 'tis a shame

(TYBALT EXITS)

Romeo
(TAKING JULIET'S HAND)

If I profane with my unworthiest hand,

This shrine, the gentle fine, is this:
To smooth that rough touch with tender kiss

Juliet

Good pilgrim,
you do wrong your hand too much,
Which mannerly devotion shows in this;
For saints have hands that pilgrims hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmers kiss.

Romeo
Don't they have lips too?

Juliet

Yes, those lips are lips that they use for prayer.
Romeo

Well then let lips do what hands do

Juliet
Saints don't move even though they grant wish

Romeo
Then I'll Act out my prayer
(ROMEO KISSES JULIET)

Now my sin has been taken

Juliet
Then do I own your sin now?

Romeo
Sin from my lips? You Encourage Crime with sweetness.
Give me my sin back
(ROMEO and JULIET KISS AGAIN)

Juliet
You kiss like you've studied how

Nurse
Madam, your mother craves a word with you

It's time to run

Romeo

Capulet
(addressing the entire room)

I thank you all, I thank you honest gentleman, Goodnight

let's all sleep tight
(ALL begin to LEAVE)

(JULIET and her NURSE ENTERS)

Juliet

Come Nurse,
Who is Him?

Nurse

His name is Romeo, and a Montague,

The son of your great enemy,
To Whom we argue

Juliet
My only love sprung from my only hate.
Too early seen unknown and known too late.
(ALL EXIT)

Romeo! He left this way and leapt this orchard wall,

(GIVES UP)

Come,
Blind in his love and best befits the dark
Mercutio

If love is Blind, I cannot hit the mark

Benvolio
Go then, for this in Vain,
To find him here perhaps is not the main

Scene 2
Capulet's Orchard

(ROMEO HIDES)
Romeo
It's easy for someone to joke about scars,
But do you know how it feels in my chest?
But wait what's the light on the window over there?
It is the East and Juliet is the Sun!
(JULIET appears at the balcony)

Juliet

Oh my!

Romeo

She speaks,
O speak again Bright Angel

Juliet
Oh Romeo! Why do you have to be Romeo!
Deny your Father and refuse your name,
Or if you'll not, just sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet
(Thought she was not HEARD)

Romeo
(Talks to Himself)
Should I Listen?
Or Shall I talk?

Juliet

It's only in the name that we are enemy,

I hate this agony,
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any names would still smell the same,
So, Romeo Refuse thy name,
And you’ll get me in exchange
(still not NOTICES)

Romeo
(LEAVES his hiding place)

I trust your words,

Just call me Love and I'll never be Romeo

Juliet
Who are you to listen on my business,
And why do you hide in the darkness?
Romeo

I don't how to tell you who I am

Juliet

I Haven't heard you say much,

But I recognize your Voice,
Aren't you Romeo son of a Montague?

Romeo

If you don't like those,

I'll never be one of those

Juliet
How did you come here?

Romeo

I flew over these walls,

If a man loves,
Nothing is an obstacle

Juliet
If my kinsmen sees you,
He'll kill you
Romeo

Alas, whatever they do,

Is nothing compared to you,
Just show me your love,
And I won't go out of luck
I have darkness to hide me

Juliet

Do you love me?

If you do, pronounce it faithfully

Romeo
Oh, by the blessed moon,
I swear

Juliet

Don't swear by the moon

Romeo

Where do I?

Juliet

Do not swear at all

(NURSE calls from WITHIN)

Nurse
Madam!
Juliet
Three words,
If you are true marry me tomorrow

Romeo

Romeo

I'll follow

Mercutio
