THE SATISFACTION OF GRADE 12 SENIOR HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS TOWARDS THEIR STUDYING

EXPERIENCE IN FACILITIES AND INSTRUCTOR

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Students today are all product of 21st century, which is exposed to the new digital ways and modern
technology. Universities today use a diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store,
and manage information. In some contexts, ICT has also become integral to the teaching-learning
interaction, through such approaches as replacing chalkboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using
students’ own smart phones or other devices for learning during class time, and the “flipped classroom”
model where students watch lectures at home on the computer and use classroom time for more
interactive exercises.Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education is the mode of
education that use information and communications technology to support, enhance, and optimize the
delivery of information.Worldwide research has shown that ICT can lead to an improved student learning
and better teaching methods.in the present Universities are developing skilled SHS students in terms of
computing, or students with Information, Communication and Technologies (ICT) capabilities.

Using ICT in schools can leads a significant expansion of Education and pedagogical outcome which are
beneficial to both students and teachers. When used appropriately, ICT can help strengthen the
importance of education to increasingly networked society, raising the quality of education by making
learning and teaching an active process connected to real life (Zaman, Shamim & Clement, 2011)

ICT track is important to tackle and learn about the subject for the students because for the future in the
industry of technology have a highly percentage for the society. And because of that it will affect and
reshape most parts of our society and will come to radically influence the global economy, and, to an
unknown degree, our culture and the way we perceive the world, our relationship to it, and our
actions. No one knows specifically what role it will play in the future, but we know that it will be significant
and that our decisions today will influence the direction in which it will develop tomorrow.

Education, in every human community is an indispensable instrument for human progress, empowerment
and effecting national development. This suggests that a nation that lacks sound educational culture and
philosophy stands the risk of decay whereas a nation that sees to the development of its education sector
is bond to achieve great success.Schools are established for the purpose of teaching and learning. It is also
more important that the teachers are properly accommodated to facilitate the teaching– learning process
that go on there. This is the essence of the school plant and facilities (Alimi 2004).
Good facilities affect the learning of the children cause there are relationship between school facilities
and the school learning environment. The quality of the facilities is an important predictor of teacher
retention and student learning. The physical and emotional health of students and teachers depend on
the quality of the physical location, which makes establishing safe, healthy buildings essential.Improving
the quality of school facilities is an expensive undertaking. However, when the positive impacts of facility
improvement on teachers and students are translated into dollar figures, the rewards of such investments
far outstrip the cost of the investments. Many student will be educated if the facilities are good. Effective
learning can occur through one’s interaction with the environment. Environment here refers to the
facilities that are available to facilitate students learning outcome or achievement. These facilities include
school building, library, laboratory, textbooks, software and hardware of educational technology etc.
These facilities goes a long to affect or enhance students performance or achievement. This can be
realized when there are qualified teachers to handle the subject and the facilities are available.

The teachers, being the focal figure in education, must be competent and knowledgeable in order to
impart the knowledge they could give to their students. Good teaching is a very personal manner.
Effective teaching is concerned with the student as a person and with his general development. The
teacher must recognize individual differences among his/her students and adjust instructions that best
suit to the learners. It is always a fact that as educators, we play varied and vital roles in the classroom.
Teachers are considered the light in the classroom. We are entrusted with so many responsibilities that
range from the very simple to most complex and very challenging jobs. Everyday we encounter them as
part of the work or mission that we are in. It is very necessary that we need to understand the need to be
motivated in doing our work well, so as to have motivated learners in the classroom. When students are
motivated, then learning will easily take place. (Barberos, Gonzales, Padayogdog, 2017) "Effective learning
in the classroom depends on the teacher's ability to maintain the interest that brought students to the
course in the first place (Erickson, 1978)

Motivating students to learn requires a very challenging role on the part of the teacher. It requires a
variety of teaching styles or techniques just to capture students' interests. They needs to exert effort to
lead children or students into a life that is large, full, stimulating and satisfying. Some students seem
naturally enthusiastic about learning, but many need or expect their instructors or teachers to inspire,
challenge or stimulate them. . Not all students are motivated by the same values, needs, desires and
wants. Some students are motivated by the approval of others or by overcoming challenges. Having a
good Instructor make the student more responsible to attend classes everyday and they are inspired
cooperating for all of the activities, the effect of the teachers to the students learning is very important
for them to be a better person in the future.

According to a new report, while only five percent of students in the 35 member countries of the
Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) chose to study ICT, those with degrees
in that area had the highest rates of employment. The OECD's Education at a Glance 2017 report showed
that 88 percent of 25-64-year-olds who had studied ICT at a tertiary level were employed in 2016 in UK,
compared to just 81 percent who had studied arts, humanities, social science or journalism.
It is such a big percentage of people who are studying the ICT, and it is a good start for the students for
their future since today is modern world and sooner or later our world will be too moderate in technology
and it will be a great opportunity for them since they have a prior knowledge about technology and it will
serve as their advantages.
