ICT 1/L: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY 1

Course Description :This is a three (3) unit modular course which focuses on the understanding of concepts, the acquisition of basic skills and attitudes related to the various information and
communication technologies. The course covers concepts and skills aimed at providing students with basic literacy on current ICTs including the Internet and other
telecommunications and network-based technologies and their utilization for research, communication, publishing, productivity, teaching and learning. The course is delivered
through a combination of lecture and laboratory activities. Students may skip module 1 by choice or subject to school based assessment policies and procedures.

General Course Objectives : At the conclusion of the course, the students will be able to:
1. Operate a personal computer.
2. Use word processing applications/spreadsheets/presentations.
3. Use e-mail and search the web using browsers.
4. Manage users and resources (files, directories, applications, etc.) through an operating system.
5. Communicate effectively through written communications and reports.
6. Know the values and work ethics expected of an IT professional.
7. Design algorithms to solve given problems using flowcharting and pseudocoding techniques.
