Hot to very hot north to northwesterly winds, becoming gusty in the afternoon ahead of a
cooler, strong and squally westerly change moving across western parts in the morning,
central parts in the early afternoon and eastern parts in the late afternoon and evening.
Scattered showers extending from the west from late morning. Areas of smoke haze over
central and eastern parts, contracting east during the day.

Water Impacts
• Mutual aid arrangements within the water sector has been established to support impacted water corporations.
• Communications and power are still out or intermittent at several locations.
• · NEW Scada supply to all treatment plants back on line.
• · Generators have been deployed to supply power to water treatment plants where needed.
• · Road closures continue to affect access to water assets.
• · Untreated water is being provided to Buchan and Omeo communities. ‘Do not drink tap water notice’ remains
in place. Bottled water has been provided to these communities. Both treatment plants are now operating
satisfactorily. EG Water is awaiting confirmation from DHHS to lift the no drinking water notices.
• · All North East Water Treatment plants are operating effectively.
• · EG Water have identified some damage to water storage covers.
• · Water sector relief recovery planning is currently underway.
• Other Water Issues
• · Southern Rural Water is working with the local ICC to assess damage groundwater bores in the Swifts Creek
area and repair them to maintain access to stock water.

Telecommunications
• 151 ADSL services across multiple communities including Colac Colac, Sarsfield, Corryong, Thowgla
Valley, and Cudgewa;
• 538 fixed line telephony across multiple communities including Tostaree, Gelantipy, Goongerah,
Sarsfield, Koetong, Towong, Lucyvale, Cudgewa, Nariel Valley and Combienbar;
• 140 Telstra NBN Voice and Data services at Corryong;
• Loss of mobile coverage to 7 x 4G and 4 x 3G base stations across 7 physical sites including Butchers
Ridge, Bonang, Tubbut, Genoa, Mount Elliot and Granya;
• Emergency Services Regional Managed Radio (RMR) sites at Mount Mittamitite, Mount Youngal,
Hamilton Gap, Jersey West.
• As a result of the impact above, the Communities of Cudgewa, Granya, Gelantipy, Genoa, Butchers
Ridge, Tubbut, Tintaldra, Bonang, Combienbar, Cabbage Tree Creek, Club Terrace, Goongerah and
Mount Jersey West may be isolated and residents of these areas may be unable to call Triple Zero
(000) emergency services.

Electricity
Approximately 3,100 customers off supply due to bushfire activity
Work commencing today includes construction work in the Buchan area, if successful this will provide
power back to the town centre, including the relief centre
An escorted trip into Corryong to refuel the generators will be attempted if conditions permit, with this
escort 24 poles will be transported and left at strategic sites. This is conditional on electricity field
personnel gaining entry to the area
Restoration plans will prioritise relief centres, hospitals, airports and communication services as well as
other essential services

Properties restored with power in previous 24 hours:

· Ensay – 10 properties connected to the generator


· Sarsfield – 8 properties connected to the network
· Cliftons Creek – 59 properties connected to the network
· Granite Rock – 8 properties connected to the network
· Jarrahmond – 20 properties connected to the network

State Relief & Recovery Update

• R&R is working closely with the Combined Agency Operations Team around the reception of
the 300 people being evacuated from Mallacoota on HMAS Choules, which is due to arrive
tomorrow.

• Working with relevant agencies around relief requirements and supplies for isolated
communities.

• We are working closely with local councils to determine relief priorities, both immediate and
longer term

• R&R continues to reinforce strong messaging around donated goods. We are keeping a
register of OoA coming through to the SCC and responding appropriately.

• There are 39 US Firefighters operating on CFA tankers in Gippsland on
their first rotation (rest day today).
• Additional US firefighting (48) and specialist resources (18) from US and
Canada are due to arrive on Wednesday 8th January 2020.
• Briefing for incoming crews arranged for 9 January 2020.
• Victorian agency field liaisons embedded with the firefighting task forces.
• 2 US Liaison officers operating at the SCC will be joined by a Canadian LO
on Friday. 1 US LO travelling to Hume.
• Requests for additional firefighting and IMT support have been submitted.
• 1 FBAN from QLD in the State Control Centre
