Hypertension is the increase in systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic more than 90 mmHg in
two different measurements in the range of five (5) minutes of getting enough rest. Hypertension has become one of
the diseases with an increasing number of patients. One of the problems encountered in the management of
hypertension is medication adherence. Support self-management is the effort made to improve the ability of patients
to manage their own health. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self-management support with
medication adherence in patients with hypertension. This research is an experimental design quasypretest-posttest
control group.Design sampling is random sampling with a sample of each - each 20 respondents for the two groups
of samples. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon signed rank test for paired categorical comparative test and Chi
Square test for unpaired comparative test. The results showed 57.5% of respondents were male, 45% of
respondents aged 45-54 years, 32.5% of respondents background of high school education, 50% had a history of
suffering from hypertension 4-5 years. Wilcoxon test results in the control group p value = 0.157> α = 0.05, which
concluded there was no difference level of compliance before and after the intervention in the control group;
Wilcoxon test results in the treatment group p value = 0.000 <α = 0.05, which concluded that there are different levels
of compliance before and after the intervention in the experimental group. Analysis of unpaired categorical symbolize
the value of α = 0.05 with 95% confidence level using the Chi-square test with the result p = 0.004 <α = 0.05, which
means there is a significant effect of self-management support with anti-hypertensive medication adherence. It is
concluded that there is a significant effect of self-management support with medication adherence in patients with
hypertension. Suggestion of this research are health professionals can use the self-management support
interventions to help people with hypertension maintain control of their blood pressure. 05, which means there is a
significant effect of self-management support with anti-hypertensive medication adherence. It is concluded that there
