What is Research?

Introduction
Searching it again and again means Re-search. Research is defined as
human activity based on intellectual application in the investigation of matter.
The primary purpose for applied research is discovering, interpreting, and the
development of methods and systems for the advancement of human
knowledge on a wide variety of scientific matters of our world and the
universe. Research can use the scientific method, but need not do so.
Research is an art of scientific investigation. It is regarded as a systematic
efforts to gain new knowledge. The dictionary meaning of research is “a careful
investigation or enquiry especially through search for new facts in any branch
of knowledge”. Research comprises defining and redefining problems,
formulating hypothesis or suggested solutions; collecting, organizing and
evaluating data; making deductions and reaching conclusions; and at last
carefully testing the conclusions to determine whether they fit the formulating
hypothesis.

If you are doing research that is limited to secondary analysis of data,

records, or specimens that are either publicly available, de-identified, or
otherwise impossible to be linked to personal identities, you may still need
IRB approval to do your project. Sometimes a data use agreement between
the researcher and the data custodian may still be required to verify that the
researcher will not have access to identifying codes. It is this "de-linking" of
data from personal identifiers that allows the IRB to make this determination.
Regardless, you should submit an IRB proposal so the IRB can determine
whether your project needs IRB review, and if so, the type of review required.

Authors Explained Research

 According to Waltz and Bansell (1981). Research is a systematic, formal,
rigorous and precise process employed to gain solutions to problems or
to discover and interpret new facts and relationships.
 According to Kothari (2006). Research is a pursuit of trust with the help
of study, observation, comparison and experiment, the search for
knowledge through objective and systematic method of finding solutions
to a problem.
 According to Payton (1979). Research is the process of looking for a
specific question in an organized, objective, reliable way

Conclusion
Therefore research is a process of generating questions, selecting
samples, and measuring, collecting, and analyzing data to answer questions.
When used conceptually, research serves to introduce new ideas, help people
identify problems and appropriate solutions in new ways, and provide new
frameworks to guide thinking and action. What’s more, the conceptual use of
research can have long-term consequences. Rather than influencing a single
decision, it shapes how people see the world, how they respond to problems
they encounter in their everyday work, and how they design and manage
solutions. It touches not only policymaking but also policy implementation.

What is Research?
Introduction
A research paper is an expanded essay that presents your own
interpretation or evaluation or argument. When you write an essay, you use
everything that you personally know and have thought about a subject. When
you write a research paper you build upon what you know about the subject
and make a deliberate attempt to find out what experts know. A research
paper involves surveying a field of knowledge in order to find the best possible
information in that field. And that survey can be orderly and focused, if you
know how to approach it.

Research can be done on any topic, be it medical, non- medical, IT, or

anything else. In order to do research, first of all, you need to have a topic or
the problem on which you can do research. The topic must have relevant
questions to answer.
The main purpose of the research is to get deep into the topic so that
something helpful can be churned out which can be helpful for everybody and
used in that particular niche sector.

Authors explained research

 Research is systematic, controlled, empirical and critical investigation of
hypothetical propositions about the presumed relations among natural
phenomena. - Kerlinger, 1973
 It is the process of arriving at dependable solution to the problems
through the planned and systematic collection, analysis and
interpretation of data. –Mouley
 Research is a careful enquiry or examination in seeking facts or
principles, a diligent investigation to ascertain something. -Clifford
Woody.
Conclusion
Research is useful in all the fields and is used by all the departments,
whether public or private. The research work is done by all age groups,
whether the students or the teachers and even the humankind in order to
understand the society, it’s rules and other policies.
