SCHEDULE: 1:30-4:30 TTH DATE SUBMITTED: 11/16/2019
CLASS NUMBER

Observation:

The experiment involves the usage of capillary tubes and as well as the refrigeration systems and how variations
in the compressors and fans can affect the frost development in the coils. The experiment involved a fixed charge system
because a variation in the charge causes freezing in the suction line. A specific amount of refrigerant is vital for the system
because the efficiency of the system depends on the refrigerant. If the refrigerant has fully evaporated in the evaporator,
then it can be said that it is the ideal. But in actual cases, there are some parts of the refrigerant that stays in its liquid
form that is why there is a need in the presence of a liquid separator.

We also have traced the flow of refrigerant through the operation of the valves and varied the openings as to see
what changes are made. For instance, closing the fan would cause the coils to form a rapid frosting. The temperatures and
pressures are also taken into consideration but changes in pressure were not seen because there is no difference every
time there is a variation per set up. More so, temperatures also did not vary per set up but there is a significant amount
of change when the temperature was measured in the evaporator and condenser.

It can be observed that without restrictions in the capillary tube the evaporator coils develop frosting while partial
restriction more so with complete restriction does not developing frosting or a little frosting.

Conclusion:

In the experiment regarding the refrigeration systems, it can be concluded that the capillary tube affects the
refrigeration system in a way that frosts are developed in the coils that serves as the ice in the freezer of a typical
refrigerator. More so, pressure fluctuations are observed in the experiment but there is a little change as to the pressure
variations. That is maybe due to the antiquity of the said apparatus. Fans also played a role in the frosting development
of the refrigeration system because of the rapid frosting when the fan has been turned off.
