A NOTE ON SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS

Purpose of assignments:
As the college believes in continuous learning, it has been striving to keep its
students abreast of the happenings around. One such effort that makes
students kindle their intellectual capabilities by dint of observation,
understanding, interpretation, analyzing and judging is the concept of
‘ASSIGNMENTS’. It is yet a pivotal endeavor that befits students to prepare
them according to the changing academic and job scenario.

HOW DO SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS HELP?


1. As a preparatory exercise that caters the students to acquaint
themselves with the probable curriculum.

2. To enhance the culture the independent learning, giving much scope


to one’s perception, ideas experiences rather than making learning a
butt of preconceived ideas.

3. To facilitate employability of students that looks for ‘smart working’


rather than hard working individuals.

4. To streamline with the modus operandi of ‘learning beyond the class


room’.

5. To make learning a delightful and practical experience.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS


2010-2011

COMMERCE (Second year-Regular)


Students entering into 2nd year from 1st year during the academic
year 2010-2011 must follow the guidelines specified below for submission of
summer assignments already sent to the students’ mail ids.

1. Every student has to take up the task of assignments as an exercise


for personal gain rather than a painful task.

2. It is mandatory that each student does the stipulated number of


assignments allotted.
3. Evaluation would be based on the rationality of the content and
presentation.

4. Individual oral presentations of assignments would add weightage to


the overall evaluation pattern.

5. Assignments in Hindi and Telugu should be submitted in the hard copy


to the concerned faculty on the first day of re-opening.

6. Check your mail id for the allotted summer assignments to your name/
class- roll no.

7. If you have any problem of identifying the above allotted assignment,


contact your HOD at once for clarification. If by some means, no
allotment of assignment is made to your id, contact your section
incharge/HOD for further details.

8. Go through the questions subject wise, first mention the question no.,
Question, followed by its answer, till you complete all the questions in
that subject.

9. You should submit answered summer assignment in MSWORD only.

10. The Second Year students of B.Com. Regular to submit the answered
assignments to the following email ids consists 4 parts such as stream,
year, group - title of the paper.

Advanced Accounting(aa) assignment should be sent to bcom2reg-

Business statistics(bs) assignment should be sent to bcom2reg-


bs@adc.edu.in

Taxation (tax) assignment should be sent to bcom2reg-


tax@adc.edu.in

Banking - financial services and insurance(bfs) assignment should be

11. The title wise answered assignment should be sent in a file,


name consisting of 3 parts streamyearsectiongroup-roll no-code
name of title.

For example, bcom2areg-128082201-aa for advanced accounting

bcom2areg-128082201-bs for business statistics

bcom2areg-128082201-sans for Sanskrit

bcom2areg-128082201-french for french etc.

Name of subject code name

Strict rules for submission of summer assignments:

12. You should not download answer material from internet sources.
Downloaded material attracts severe punishment/ penalty.

13. You should submit the (i) subject wise assignment to that
particular subject id (ii) Placement assignment to do so results in “no
response” from you and the consequence is that you are not allowed
to sit in the class after the college reopens.

14. Your answers must be in MSWORD only.

15. Your answers must be appended with the list of references,


wherever necessary, as an evidence to support your argument.

16. You should submit all summer assignments on subject as well as


placements on or before 31st may, 2010 at 5pm.

17. All mail ids under adc domain will be blocked on 31st may, 2010 at 5pm
preventing any chance of late submission after the due date.

18. You should collect a token from your class incharge/HOD any time after
submission and before 7th June 2010 to the effect that you have
already submitted all summer assignments. Failure of collection of
token would result in “no entry” into the class when the college
reopens on 7th June 2010.

19. All the students are required to come prepared to give a presentation
on summer assignments from 7th june, 2010 to 12th june, 2010.

1. Evaluation process of the summer assignments would be as


follows.

20. Evaluation would be based on the rationality of the content and


presentation.

21. Individual oral presentation of assignments would add weightage


to the overall evaluation pattern.

22. The marks secured in subjectwise and placements would be


added and weighted on a reasonable scale given by

a. Total marks in % Weight

<50 0

b. 50 – 60 2

c. 60 – 70 4

d. 70 – 80 6
e. 80 – 90 8

f. >90 10

out of total weight of 10.

23. Submission of summer assignments would be considered as


healthy academic activity and the weights secured by the students
would be accounted for in their CBCS a/c.

24. Those students who secured highest 3 ranks


paperwise/streamwise would be suitably rewarded.

25. The parent(s)/guardian of those students who show complete


indifference towards the submission of summer assignment
by way of either

a. Getting very poor weight ≤2 or

b. Submitting it for the sake of submission.

would be intimated about the act of their ward and students in such
cases would be punishable.
