TITLE: High frequency characterization of resistor & capacitor.

AIM: To study impedance behavior of resistor & capacitor at radio frequency.

OUTCOME: Students will be able to understand equivalent circuit and high frequency
behavior of the passive components.

Component and equipment used: 1) Resistor and Capacitor (Mounted on PCB)

2) RF Signal Generator 9KHz- 3GHz

3) Spectrum Analyser 3GHz

4) SMA Connectors

5) SMA to BNC Cable.

Procedure:-

1. Connect the RF source to input port of DUT (device under test) and spectrum analyser to
the output port of DUT.
2. Set the input power level of the RF source (between -27 dBm to 0 dBm).
3. Vary the input frequency (above 500 MHz with increment of 50 MHz) with once set value
of power level using RF source and note down the output power of spectrum analyser in
dBm. (15 readings).
4. Plot neat and labelled graph of output power (dBm) versus the input frequency selecting
the appropriate scale.
