2 – EStop Switches and Plungers
Emergency Stop (EStop) is an important safety
feature. Know how to use an EStop before you
operate the cutter. Use an EStop to stop table motion
if there is danger to people, the cutter, or the material
English
being cut.
English
10
EStop Switches (1)
The EStop switch is a large red button with a yellow
ring behind the button. An EStop switch is mounted
on each end of the beam (on the remote end cover
and on the beam control panel). Table motion will
stop if this is pushed.
English
Note: Do not move the spread or jog the
conveyor after an EStop. If you do, it will
not be easy for the cutter to start cutting in
the right place after recovery.
EStop Plungers (2)
The EStop plunger (paddle) is a large yellow disk
attached to the beam. It operates automatically if the
moving beam hits a person or an object. There are

work surface during cutting. The cutter has a vacuum
motor and generator attached by belts. The vacuum
motor and generator are located at one end of the cutter.
Exhaust from the vacuum is vented through the stack on
the remote side of the cutter.
16
8 – Conveyorized Take-Off Table (CTOT)
Cut pieces and scrap material move off the cutting table
to the CTOT. If the CTOT is placed in front of another
table, pieces can continue to move on that table for
picking and bundling. Otherwise, cut pieces are picked up
English
directly from the CTOT and scrap material can drop away
into a bin or on the floor.
17
9 – Stack (Mast)
The stack is a tower on the remote side of the cutter that
holds the overhead power cables and exhaust stack.

Operating the XLc7000™ GERBERcutter®
Basic Concepts
The GERBER cutter is an efficient, computer controlled cutting
English
system. When approached at a basic level, automated cutting is
easy to comprehend. Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems
provide the instructions to control the cutting system, and the
GERBERcutter® responds to those commands. Flexibility within
the software allows for parameters in the GERBERcutter® to be
changed to accommodate for differences in patterns, materials,
and manufacturing. There are four key concepts to be
considered for automated cutting: Data Preparation, Vacuum
Hold Down, Knife Sharpening, and Motion Control.
Data Preparation
35
Therefore, the data coming from the CAD system (e.g.,
AccuMark™) is critical to the performance of the system
and the accuracy of the pieces being cut. Here are a few
examples of parameters that can be defined during the
Designing of pieces in the CAD system:
•
English
36
There are also a few things to keep in mind when
digitizing pieces in the CAD system that will enhance cut
quality/performance. They are:
English
could be distorted at the start / end point.
• Do not start on a corner containing a notch. A notch
that is too close to a corner may result in excessive
heel cuts.
• Use as few grade and intermediate points as
possible. Overloading a part with data points will
slow the cutter down and has a negative effect on
curve smoothness.
38
Motion Control
Motion Control, or how fast or slow the cutter is moving,
is also a variable in how well the GERBERcutter® will
perform. Motion Control includes how fast the beam and
head are moving, as well as how fast the knife is
English
reciprocating. Quality requirements, material, and type of
manufacturing must be considered when optimizing the
performance and cutting speeds of the GERBERcutter®.
39
Making A Test Cut With The Automated Cutting
Wizard
In helping you become more familiar with the cutter, we will
make a test cut utilizing the Automated Cutting Wizard. This
automated “wizard” steps you through the process of cutting
English
English
using simple step-by-step instructions. Use one layer of paper,
or one layer of paper underlay and one layer of fabric for this
sample cut.
40
5. Push the Enable Servo button on the beam control
panel.
6. Now we need to convey the material onto the cutter
by using the beam to help pull the material onto the
table. Pull the end of the material about 300 mm
onto the bristle (cutter table), slew the beam so it is
over the material, press the Manual Bite button, and
English
slew the beam to the left. Next, turn the Conveyor
Jog Control to the left to move the material onto the
cutter. Once the material is on the cutter table,
press Next.
41
7. Choose the appropriate settings file for the cut that
is being made. The settings file contains all the
parameters associated with CutWorks™ MPC, such
as knife speed and knife sharpen settings. The
default file has been setup for you with common
settings for all the parameters. When the Select
Setting screen appears, leave it on the default

setting and push the Next button.
42
English
Figure 29. Diag15.int
9. When the Select Marker Screen appears, navigate
with the arrow buttons and select the sample marker
named Diag15.int. Note that it is stored in
C:\SYSFILES\. The system will load the marker for
you automatically. Push the Next button when
complete.
43
10. Cover the table with plastic. Make sure the plastic
completely covers the table. This will ensure that the
vacuum is uniform across the table. Press Next
when done and the vacuum will be energized for
you.
English
44
11. Next we need to select an origin for this marker.
The origin is important because the marker is cut
relative to that point. Use the joystick on the beam
control panel to move the origin light until it is on the
material origin. The origin is at the left and bottom
most cuttable point of the material. Push Next when
complete. The origin will be set automatically for
English
you and the head will be moved to the right of the
origin to prepare for the next step.
45
12. Next, align the material so that the cutter knows how
the material is laid on the table. Using the joystick
on the beam control panel, move the origin light until
it is on the bottom most cuttable edge of the
material. Push Next when complete.
English
46
14. We are now ready to cut. Push Start Cutting after
the knife is turned on. The cutter will now begin
cutting the marker file.
English
Figure 34. Start Cutting
15. Once the cutter has completed cutting the sample
marker, we need to move the material off the cutter.
To do this, we use the Conveyor Jog Controls. Turn
and hold the conveyor jog control in the direction
you want the material to move, in this case toward
the CTOT. The CTOT will turn on automatically for
you to ease the material off the cutter table.
47
Exit CutWorks™ MPC
Close the CutWorks™ MPC program.
De-energize Cutter
1. Push the Stop button on the beam
control panel.

Glossary
Axis
An imaginary line used to describe movement and location on the cutter
English
table. The cutter uses three axes: X (parallel to table length), Y (parallel to
table width), and C (knife direction).
Beam
A support and carrier for the cutter head as it moves along the width and
length of the cutter table.
Bite
Part of a marker that (a) fits on the cutter table, and (b) can be cut at one
time. Bite feed is when the cutter head movement agrees with the
conveyor movement. This results in an automatic cut of a long spread of
material. The spread is cut in sections that fit on the cutting table surface.
Each part is called a “bite”.
Bristle Squares
The cutter table work surface contains molded bristle squares. When fabric
is cut, the knife passes through the material and into the top of the bristle
squares. This protects the knife blade and the cutter table from damage.
Holes in the bottom of the bristle squares let the vacuum hold the fabric
during the cut.
C-Axis
An imaginary, straight line that the knife rotates around.
Command
CutWorks™ MPC tells the cutter to do a function entered at the BCP or the
operator’s touch screen. A command is also an item you can choose in a
CutWorks™ MPC menu in order to use a feature in the cutter program.
49
Conveyor
A moving Cutter work surface that contains bristle squares.
CTOT
The Conveyorized Take-off Table (CTOT) is a device for moving cut
pieces off the cutting table surface. The CTOT is made of plastic links that
English

utilizando simples instrucciones paso a paso.

CutWorks™ MPC
