The drift rate will vary as a result of the following conditions: Condition of the different hydraulic
components, hydraulic oil temperature and operation.
The oil in the hydraulic system must be at an operating temperature of 38° to 65°C (100° to 149°F).
Before you measure the drift on the cylinder rod, the cylinders must be extended at least five times.
Use the following procedure to measure the cylinder drift.
3. Start the engine and increase the engine speed to HIGH IDLE.
5. Operate the dozer blade control in order to warm up the hydraulic oil to the operating
temperature.
7. Move the dozer blade control to the TILT LEFT position until the tilt cylinder is fully retracted.

8. Move the dozer blade control to the LOWER position and lower blade (1) to the ground until
front idlers (2) are off the ground.

11. Measure the length of exposed rod (3) of the tilt cylinder. Record the length on the
troubleshooting worksheet. Refer to Specifications, Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting,
"Worksheet - Troubleshoot".
12. Wait for five minutes and measure the length of the exposed rod again. Record the length on the
troubleshooting worksheet.
13. Subtract the value that was obtained in Step 11 from the value that was obtained in Step 12. Tilt
cylinder drift should not exceed 33.0 mm (1.30 inch) after the five minutes.
If the tilt cylinder drift is greater than the specification, check the following items:
