LINTERNAS DE LUCENA 2019

November 18, 2019

Ms. Criselda Cabangon David

Head/Coordinator, LMSTC-TESDA
Lucena City

Dear Ms. David,

A very bright, sparkling Christmas!!

Our group, Konseho ng Herencia ng Lucena, would like to bring more value and meaning to our old
tradition of just hanging lanterns during the holiday season. We intend to hold the first Linternas De
Lucena which is the Spanish equivalent of Lanterns of Lucena.

For nine late afternoons, we intend to hold a novena praying for peace, love and understanding in
the country and the world for the entire year of 2020. This will be held every afternoon from
December 7 until December 15 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Ferdinand Cathedral. Every novena, a specific
group will be assigned to attend and pray. The group will be bringing 12 lanterns representing the 12
disciples and the different months of the year and a cross representing Christ. After the novena, we
will request these lanterns to be blessed.

On the 15th, all the groups will be attending the final novena. They will be carrying their lanterns as
well. When the final blessing has been made, all the lanterns and the cross will be paraded in the
main streets of the city while praying the Holy Rosary. Several individuals will be portraying the Holy
Family. This will usher in the official start of the Christmas season as the midnight Simbang Gabi
follows after. Several lanterns will be displayed on the churchyard after. A program follows
immediately.

In this regard, we are requesting your most favorable support by joining Linternas de Lucena. Please
organize yourselves to attend and sponsor one novena, bringing with you your well-lit lanterns,
preferably at least 35” diameters in size each. And let the public be lit and shone upon by your
linternas. Let them feel you care. And the Lord will take care of the rest.

Please consider this as a part of your social responsibility, your commitment to the Lord and the
community. Rest assured that the event is meant to bring more religiosity and bring the faith
stronger among the people. This is not a competition but a ritual of devotion. At this point in time,
we are already excited about the celebration and look forward to having you in the event.

Maligayang Pasko po!

Sincerely,
