Abstract

Electricity is the phenomenon associated with stationary or moving electric

charges. The researchers want to conduct this study because they observed that every

G11 EIM students affects their performances in their specialization and especially they

did not perform well in every actual that they do because of this problem therefore, they

want to give a solution on how they overcome this by the help of this study. Wherein

their purpose is to identify, describe and analyze the lacking of tools in as well as it

includes the four components that may have affect to the students of G11 IA Electrical

Installation Maintenance. As per the analysis of the researcher, they found that it almost

hundred percent that says they are technically lacking of tools. Which its negative impact

is shown directly in the students. The broken wall can be repair if the person is willing to

do all things and sacrifice things including money, the broken wall will turn into a

beautiful and furnish wall, it has something to do with the lacking of tools, because a

student who is willing to finish and pursue his dream, the lacking of tools is just a mere

problem which can be solve in easiest ways, the positivity is always been in front of his

toes and no one can stop him either to be fail.

CHAPTER 1

The Problem and Its Background

1.1 Overview

Electricity and tools are one of the human needs. Electricity is the

phenomenon associated with stationary or moving electric charges. Electric charge is a

fundamental property of matter and is borne by elementary particles. In electricity, the

particle involved is the electron, which carries a charge designated, by convention, as

negative. Thus, the various manifestations of electricity are the result of the

accumulation or motion of numbers of electrons (Kashy E. et.al.,2019),while tools is a

handheld device that aids in accomplishing a task (Merriam,1828). That’s how the

electrical tools are discovered, because due to the used of electricity they can used tools

to make things easier to work.

The researchers want to conduct this study because they observed that

every G11 EIM students affects their performances in their specialization and especially

they did not perform well in actual. Thus, they want to give a solution on how they

overcome this by the help of this study. In order for them to perform well, they need a

complete electrical tool for them to improved their ability and skills on their actual

performances. Tools and equipment for teaching are the educational resources that are

available in schools that can be used to achieved educational goals and objective

(Adeogun, 1999). These tools and equipment’s influence the academic performance of

students and prepare them for useful living. Tools and equipment are very powerful tools

because it can be used in different kind of unexpected situation. You can use it

wherever you are. At home, on the road while travelling, or either in the offices.

1.2 Research Questions

The purpose of this study is to identify, describe and analyze the lack of

Electrical tools of G11 EIM students of 2018-2019 at Cauayan City National High

School-Main. Specifically, it seeks answer the following:

1. What are the electrical tools lack in G11 EIM students?

2. What are the causes and effects of lack of electrical tools in G11 EIM students?

3. What are the experiences and coping in lack of electrical tools of G11 EIM students?

4. What following group of people can do to solve the lack of Electrical tools of G11

1.3 Scope and Delimitations

The study focuses only in the lack of electrical tools among the G11 Electrical

Installation Maintenance (EIM) students. This composed of four (4) groups that have a

big role in the study, they are the students and teacher.

1.4 Significance of the Study

The study wants to give an easy and proper solution on how to prevent lacking of

electrical tools and especially an advice which will benefit and gives an impact to the

respondents as well as the beneficiaries or benefits of having a complete tool in academic

and actual performances of students. This study will help students to increase their

ability and skill in their actual performances. Above all, it will give them a confident for

them to improve their studies about electrical, skills that they can apply in the future

especially if they will no longer continue their studies in college. They can apply the

skills in earning income needed to supports themselves and their family.

Review of Related Literature and Studies

This chapter primarily present the different researches from local and

international researchers, which similar or related to the present study. This study

focuses in the lack of electrical tools that may affect the actual performances of Grade 11

IA EIM students. The literatures of this study come from journals, theses, dissertations,

and internet.

2.1 Foreign Literature

According to Canizares, C. A et al.(1997) They discusses different computer

tools used to help deliver, administer, and teach the material covered in two basic

undergraduate courses in electrical engineering. The computer facilities, programs and

tutorials developed are discussed; however, the paper concentrates more on analyzing the

results of using these tools in the student learning process. The students' marks and the

results of several student surveys, as well as the teaching staff's observations, are used to

evaluate the usefulness of the different tools and determine their advantages and

disadvantages. Some unexpected results regarding the actual students' use of these tools

are also presented and thoroughly analyzed.

According to Owens, N. G. (1972) Representative embodiments are

disclosed herein of new and improved armored electrical cables for supporting well tools

in extra-deep well bores in which extreme geothermal temperatures may be encountered.

To support the cable armor, the electrical conductors in these cables are enclosed within

a tubular jacket which is formed of a helically wound metal strip having a rectangular

cross section. In one embodiment of the invention, the individual electrical conductors

are encased within thin-wall metal tubes and filled with a compacted powdered thermal

and electrical insulating material for providing a suitable insulation capable of

withstanding the most extreme temperatures which may be encountered. In another

embodiment of the invention, the electrical conductors are sheathed in a special

temperature resistant plastic material to provide a cable for service at less extreme

temperatures.

2.2 Foreign Studies

According to the study of Koshy, P., et al. (2011) Tool face friction

adversely affects chip formation and consumes about 25% of the total cutting energy.

Friction in cutting can be controlled by introducing a lubricant into the tool-chip

interface, the effectiveness of which may be enhanced by surface texturing the tool. This

paper details the innovative application of electrical discharge machining for generating

an isotropic texture on the tool rake face, with a view to facilitating lubricant penetration

and retention. A significant reduction in feed and cutting forces that ensues from said

texturing is demonstrated, followed by a presentation of the features and application

areas of the technology.

According to Gulledge, C. P. et al. (1979) A portable testing device is disclosed

for testing the electrical circuits of power tools and cables having a general three-

conductor wiring circuit including a first test station for checking the wiring polarity of

an outside electrical receptacle from which the testing device operates and a

second test station having a testing circuit and receptacle for receiving a plug of the

power equipment being tested for detecting the existence of a defective ground circuit in

the power equipment. A third test station is provided for checking the ground continuity

of a power tool wiring circuit. A fourth test station is provided for checking the wiring

conditions of a three-conductor extension power cable having a three-prong plug carried

on one end and a three-socket receptacle carried on the other end. The fourth station

includes a testing circuit having a three-prong plug for receiving the receptacle end of the

power cable while the plug end of the power cable is inserted into a mating receptacle at

the second test station. The test circuit includes indicator means for indicating the wire

polarity condition of the power extension cable and for testing the cable for the reversal

of the ground and neutral conductors therein.

According to Neff, T. (1976) This invention relates to a multi-purpose hand

tool primarily for use on electrical wiring which combines into one tool all of the

necessary elements required to perform gripping, pulling, bending, cutting, stripping,

crimping, and shearing operations normally encountered in electrical wiring jobs. The

tool includes needle-nose plier-like jaws for gripping, pulling, and bending wire as well

as for turning small nuts and bolts; stripping means for stripping insulation from

electrical wire; cutting means for cutting wire; shearing means for shearing small bolts

and screws; and crimping means for crimping terminals on wire, including automotive

ignition wiring. The operating elements are disposed to take maximum advantage of the

physical law of leverage, while at the same time providing a maximum number of

elements for the widest possible application.

According to Dr. Uwameiye. (2016) the tools and materials are available in the

teaching and learning of garment making in senior secondary school in Edo State are

grossly inadequate, as per the findings of the study it shows that therefore recommends

among others that, government should equip secondary schools with modern equipment

and tools as recommended for teaching and learning garment, the findings of the study

connects the problems of the study about the lacking of tools in the Grade 11 students of

Electrical Installation Maintenance.

According to Bolalek, P.J. and Grumblatt, A.G. (1975) The tools and equipment

now used in the non-combat specialties, e.g., maintenance, electronics, and civil

engineering, were designed to meet the needs of a totally male work force. These tools

may or may not be appropriate for females. Adequate tools are required to develop the

full potential of the women who are entering these previously all-male specialties.

Therefore, there is a need to determine whether or not the tools and equipment now

being used are adequate to meet the needs of women.

Research Methodology

3.1 Research Design

This part of study contained the different part of the methods used in conducting

it. A Case Studies are in-depth investigations of a single person, group, event or

community. Typically, data are gathered from a variety of sources and by using several

methods like observations and interviews that is according to Mcleod, S. (2014). It

serves as a basis in finding answers for the problem of this research that the researcher is

trying to find. Methodology may include data analysis and data collection process as

well as the locale of the study. The research design being employed in this research study

is descriptive design under the non-experimental research design. In which it aims to

describe the Factors Affecting Grade 11 EIM Students about the lack of electrical tools.

Hence, it is really suitable for the objective of this study to provide description about the

factors affecting Grade 11 EIM students in their actual performances to the lack of

electrical tools indicated in this study.

3.2 Sampling Procedures and Samples

Participants of this study were randomly selected from different respondents or

groups, they are the students, parents, and teachers. These participants were the

respondents of the study. They answered a survey questionnaire.

After answering the questionnaires, seminar was scheduled for the parents of G11 EIM

Students. This study was conducted last week of February 2019 at Cauayan City

National High School-Main.

3.3 Data Gathering Methods

The data was collected through a standard survey questionnaire which comprises

different questions being formulated and arranged by the researchers. Questionnaires that

are used undergone the validity and reliability of the questions being included in the

survey questionnaire. The questionnaires that the researchers gave to their respondents

has a four (4) sets. The first (1st set is) putting a check marked in the two (2) columns

wherein it represents the tools that are available and not. The second (2nd) set is

identifying the causes and effects of lack of electrical tools among the G11 EIM students.

The third (3rd) set is identifying the experiences of students in lacking of electrical tools

in their actual performances. And the fourth (4th) set are questions to the respondents for

them to give comments about the problem.

3.4 Data Analysis

After conducting the survey to the identified respondents or participants, the

researchers arranged the data being collected, and looked or find things that may affect

the result of the analysis to those data. The data were analyzed through a thematic tool

suited to described and analyze those data to get the truthful and best result of this study.

The researchers tabulate the data and get the results by getting the number of students

that have a complete and incomplete tool.

Comments of Students

1.What are the ways that you do to survive during your actual performance or
before your actual performance?

John said,
“Nakikinig ako sa mga sinasabi ng aming guro upang alam ko ang aking mga gagawin
bago at kasalukuyan ng aming actual performance activity kahit na kulang ako ng
electrical tools.”
“I’m listening to our teacher says so that we know what we will going to do before or in
the current actual performance activity even if the electrical tools are incomplete.”

Jhay said,
“Ang ginagawa ko upang ako ay maka survive ay nakikinig ako sa aming guro habang
siya ay nagtuturo."
The only thing that I do in order to survive is I pay attention to my teacher while he is
discussing.

Jem said,
“Nagrereview at sinusuri ko ang aming mga napag-aralan para tignan muli ang mga
paraan na dapat gawin upang hindi ako magkamali.”
I review and scan our lesson to look once more at the mechanics, in order for me to
avoid mistakes

Jun said,
“Una ay ang pagrereview at suriin ulit ang mga napag-aralan at nagfofocus ako upang
hindi ako magkamali sa aking mga gagawin.”
First, I review and scan our studies again, and I focused well so that I avoid committing
to my work.

Jim said,
“Ang ginagawa ko ay nagkoconcentrate upang makasurvive at hinahanda ko na agad
ang mga gagamitin kong tools at materials sa pag-iinstall.”
What I only do is concentrate so as to survive, and I prepare the tools and materials to
be used in installing in advance.

JM said,
“Nakikinig nalang ako ng mabuti sa mga instruction kung ano ang dapat gawin kaya
kahit ako ay kulang sa kagamitan ang goal ko lang ay matapos ang ibinigay na gawain
ng aming guro.”
(I listen very carefully to the instruction on what to do, so even If my tools are not
enough, my only goal is to finish the activity that given to us.)

Roy said,
“Nagpopokus lang ako sa ginagawa ko tapos ginagawa ko lahat ng makakaya ko at
inilalapat ko lahat ng kaalaman na natutunan ko tungkol dito.”
I only focused on what I’m doing and I give my best to impose my knowledge that I
learned about this activity

Dem said,
“Para makasurvive ako humihiram ako ng mga kulang ko na tools sa mga kamag-anak
ko at dapat nakapokus lang sa ginagawa and especially dapat think positive lang
always.”
In order to survive I adopt some of tools to my neighbors that I’m lacking, and focused
well to the activity, especially always think positive.
2. What are the experiences that you encountered or noticed in yourself when you
do not have enough tools to perform in your actual installation?
Dem said,
“Hindi ako makapagperform ng maayos at hindi ko natatapos sa tamang oras ang
ginagawa ko at higit sa lahat nagbibigay ito ng kalituhan sakin na siyang nagdudulot ng
pag-taranta.”
I can’t perform well and I can’t finish in exact time the given activity, and it mainly gives
me a perplexity

Long-lasting installment

Jim said,
“Ang nalaman ko ay hindi maayos at mabagal dahil sa kulang sa mga gamit o tools at
mabagal din ang pag-iinstall.”
My knowledge is not good and slow because of lack of tools and the installment is very
sustained

JM said,

3.When your place is far away from shops, what are the effects that you
encountered and noticed in yourself? But when your place is not far away from
shops, why you are not able to buy your incomplete tools? Do you have any other
reasons? What are those?
JM said,
“Wala akong ibang rason kundi kapos sa budget pambili”
My only reason is inadequate budget to buy

Alternative ways? Uhm we have to provide, I mean I have to provide tools in my

own pocket, coming from my own pocket since the insurance of electrical tools are not
enough for the meantime since the budget for this purpose is not sufficient enough to
provide every student a tool for the practicum.

3. How do you encourage your students to buy and have their complete electrical
tools?

Teacher said,

They have to buy electrical tools for them to perform well and they will use this
for their personal needs, since the electrical tools in our school are not allowed to
brought out by the students.

Findings, Conclusion and Recommendation

5.1 Summary of Findings

The data as gathered is technically reversed as what the researchers expected, just

because the researchers are expecting that the result of the questionnaire would be a

positive in the two (2) reason, first is that they are a former students of Electrical

Installation Maintenance so as expected as a student they must have a complete tools in

their respected houses. Second, they must have an enough background about the

importance of having a tool. As the findings shows that, having an incomplete tool might

be a way to loosen down their confidence and strength to fulfill their dreams as

professional Electricians. Furthermore, the results also showed that one of the feelings of

having an insufficient material are, nervousness, confidence and other more. Those

emotional feelings and experiences are possibly a downfall of a one dreamer or a student.

5.2 Conclusion

The researcher concludes that, lacking of tools is a responsibility, as a quote says

“If there’s a will there’s a way” a simple saying that take a lot of meanings as well as in

this study an insufficient become sufficient if a students is really had a courage of

entering a one place and embrace, conquer all the possible problems that will be a barrier

in their dreams. According to Bolalek,. . et al.(1975) Adequate tools are required to

develop the full potential of the women who are entering these previously all-male

specialties, as what Bolalek says a potential can be enhance if has an adequate tool

because it’s a way to earn or gain more knowledge about the proper used of a tool as

well as it will make a someone confidence high during a performance just because their

knowledge is enough to fulfill what is empty. Things become well and great if a

complete material is enough also which make the students forget the emotional feelings

like nervousness, rattle and laziness just because of lacking.

5.3 Recommendation

Therefore, the researchers advised that, if someone is lacking of something,

don’t take it seriously because there is always a way to cover what is missing. In order to

fulfill that missing, study hard, follow what the teachers want you to do, if negatives

attacks you, always remember that negative vibes will catch your confidence, instead

always place the word positivity in front of yours and let your moves go with the flows

with a full of heart and confidence.

• To the School. If necessary, the school must provide those electrical tools lack in

the strand of IA-A because as we can see in the reasons of the students

interviewed. Number one reason of the students is lack of budget to buy their

own electrical tools. The researchers hoping that you help them.

• To the Parents. If necessary, to all the parents of Grade 11 EIM students, look

for the best solution for it because this matter is for own good of your son for his

career.
