Background:

Country K operator Z(LTE-FDD), we faced one LTE low throughput issue

cause by transmission issue. The analysis method of this case may can help
us to quickly find out similar issue when happen in next time.

Description of problems

We found low thought on this site. FTP(TCP) download was too low as
Maximum download throughput was only 26Mbps which is much lower
than estimated rate 90Mbps.

Analysis and Actions

1,from graph(1) we can found DL throughput was fluctuant and very low,
normally there are two possible reason for throughput issue，one is
transmission issue（like retransmission/pocket lost/….），another is
wireless issue（like bad SINR/RSRP….），and first we need to check
wireless issue，if wireless no issue，then go to next step to check
transmission issue.

2,from graph(2) we can found the SINR & CRS RSRP of antenna0 and
antenna1 were fine, and Transmission Mode fine also, so we doubt this low
throughput should cause by transmission issue, and normally transmission
have two issues，one is transmission bandwidth limit，another is
transmission quality issue（like retransmission/pocket lost…..）

3,at first，we checked whether the transmission bandwidth is enough，so

we did UDP DL test and found the throughput in UE side（graph(3)） and
eNodeB side(use MML command DSP ETHPORT in M2000) were both fined.
It means transmission bandwidth is enough.

4，second, we check whether the transmission quality have issue（like

retransmission/pocket lost…..），so we did wireshark test in three points
（graph（4））and IFTS test on site，and we found the transmission had
a lot of retransmission（graph5&6） between point2 and point3，this will
cause received window size go down，and download speed will go to half .

5, we send email to customer to check the transmission issue because of

the transmission was not from Huawei，finally customer found the
Ethernet card on the uplink have problem（garph（7）），As uplink
Microwave have old version card with small buffer .That was the reason we
could not get expected throughput. After retransmission packet testing
they found this issue and replace it.

Suggestion and Summary

First of all，we should clear what is the possible reason in our mind，
second，due to transmission was not from Huawei ，we should highlight
this transmission issue to customer and push them to solve transmission
issue，because of it will come more and more sites have same
transmission issue which will cause our acceptance slowed down。
