PREMIUM TECH TOOL CALIBRATION

FUNCTIONS
1 - Service and maintenance
2 - Engine, Engine mounting and equipment
25536-3 - Variable geometry turbo, calibration
This operation is used when the turbo actuator is being installed onto the turbo, such as during
actuator replacement, or re-installation of a previously removed actuator.Installation of actuator:
Before the actuator is installed onto the turbo, the actuator's output pinion must be placed in the
proper installation position. This position corresponds to the installation position of the sector
gear on the turbo. Refer to service information for details concerning proper positioning of the
turbo sector gear.Calibration of actuator: After an actuator has been installed onto a turbo,
calibration must be carried out in order for the normal range of travel to be established. During
the calibration, the actuator moves the turbo nozzle from one end stop to the other in order to
define the normal range of travel. The calibration data is saved by the actuator to be used in self-
diagnostic checks during normal operation.Calibration complete: Fault codes are read after
calibration to ensure that the actuator was calibrated successfully. A green indicator is shown
when the calibration is successful. If the indicator is red, the calibration failed. In this case, start
again and run the operation once more. If the calibration fails a second time, fault trace according
to normal routines for MID 128 SID 27 FMI 9.
25833-3 - SCR, SCRT freeze monitor, calibration
The injection module can be damaged if it freezes, either with or without AdBlue solution in it.
Two counters are used to monitor this.
The first counter (FCC1) detects:
if the system has been drained of AdBlue after the last running cycle.
if it has started at a temperature below -10 ºC.
The second counter (FCC2) detects:
if the system has NOT been properly drained of AdBlue after the last running cycle.
if it has started at a temperature below -10 ºC.
When either of these counters has counted up to a preset value (FCC1 = 5000, FCC2 = 20) a
fault code PSID 89, FMI 14 is set.The two counters are to be read off at a workshop to determine
when replacement of components should take place. However, at least one of the counters must
have passed its predefined value before replacement of components. The counters shall be reset
when the dosing module and/or other parts of the system ave been replaced.

3 - Electrical system and instruments

36305-3 - Rain sensor, calibration
Calibration shall be performed when:
The windscreen is replaced
The rain sensor is replaced
Fault codes indicate that calibration is necessary
36615-3 - Load indicator, calibration
The calibration is used to calibrate the load indicator when this function is engaged. In the
following cases the parameter programming must be carried out (see repair instructions 36617-3
"Load indicator, programming the parameters") before calibration can be correctly carried out:
The fifth wheel position changes on a tractor
The chassis weight changes on a tractor
The trailer combination changes

Calibration must be carried out in combination with the weighing. The vehicle and trailer must
stand on level ground with the suspension in the drive position. Extra axles must be lowered,
normal axle pressure distribution. Drive carefully onto the weighbridge and do not brake on the
weighing platform. Position the axle in the centre of the weighing platform. All brakes released,
one pair of wheels must be chocked. Weigh several times for each loading, ignoring values
which deviate. Calculate an average from at least three measurement results which are within
40 kg. (Remember to have the same number of people in the cab during calibration and
weighing).
1. Check which type of trailer the load indicator is adapted for and that the air circuits are
correctly connected.
2. Weigh the axles and note the values. The weighbridge must have an accuracy of ±10kg.
3. Mark unloaded or loaded.
4. Enter the values for each axle.
5. Start the calibration.
6. Repeat 2 - 5 for the other loading.
7. Check that the load indication in the instrument corresponds to the measured value.
36620-3 - MID 163-Programming keys, calibration
Turn the key to the driving position and start calibration. The code for the ignition key is copied to
the control unit and the key number is displayed on the display. Up to 6 keys can be
programmed. When programming more keys, repeat the procedure on the unprogrammed keys.

This calibration deletes all stored key codes and resets the key counter in the control unit.
36671-3 - Adaptive cruise control, calibration
The purpose of the calibration is to aim the radar. Calibration should be performed when: - The
position of the radar has been disturbed. - The radar has been changed. - Fault codes indicate
that calibration is necessary.

The calibration is carried out in one or two stages.Adjustment according to angle valueRead off
and adjust the radar with respect to the angle value according to the table. Both screws should
be adjusted the same amount.

If the angle value is within the interval +/- 0.5 degrees, the radar is correctly calibrated. No further
calibration is necessary.CalibrationTwo people are required for this test.Construct a metal
reflector according to the drawing.Material list: Reflector Marking pen 4 pcs large bolts Measuring
tape Screwdriver (T30)Set up guides (bolts) along the sides of the vehicle according to the
illustration (V222491). Stand approximately 30 m in front of the vehicle and find the guides'
extended lines. Mark their positions. The centre line is found between these positions.Hold the
reflector in front of you with both hands and take one step forward and one step back (when the
subtest Calibration has been started) according to the illustration (V222490) so that the reflector
moves over the vehicle's centre line. Repeat this sequence of steps until a stable angular
deviation value is returned to VCADS. Then end the subtest. The other mechanic:- Start subtest
"Calibration" - Check in the subtest that the distance to the reflector is 30 m and read off the
angular deviationAdjust the radar with respect to the value according to the table (V148718).
Both screws should be adjusted the same amount. If the value for angular deviation is within the
interval +/- 0.5 degrees, the radar is correctly calibrated.
36684-3 - LKS, calibration
The purpose of calibration is to align the camera so that it can detect road markings.Calibration
shall be performed when:
Tyre size or chassis height has been changed.
The camera bracket and camera must be remounted when the windscreen is replaced etc.
Camera is replaced.
Fault codes indicate that calibration is necessary.
Re-programming of DACU has been performed.

Place the target and truck as illustrated.

The measurement line on the target (A) must be parallel with the floor precisely in front of the
truck (B). Check with a spirit level.Calibration will be performed in 3 stages. All stages must be
performed in order for complete calibration to be achieved. 1. Read out parameters. 2. Re-
initiates parameter data. 3. Starts calibration.
Calibration procedure:1. Run sub-test "LKS parameters". If the parameter JAE is not 2, it must be
re-programmed using "17030-3, Parameter programming" before the rest of the operation can be
completed. 2. Start sub-test "Re-initiate parameter data". 3. Starting key shall be turned to stop
position, wait 10 s before turning key to drive position. 4. Check that fault code MID248 SID1
FMI5 is set in "17012-3, Fault codes". 5. Start sub-test "Start calibration". 6. Starting key shall
be turned to stop position, wait 10 s before turning key to drive position. Calibration has now
been performed. If fault code MID248 SID1 FMI5 is active before #2 "Re-initiate parameter data"
is performed, then initiation cannot be performed. Go directly to #5 "Start calibration" instead.

56185-3 - Air drier setting resetting, calibrating
Calibration is used to reset the parameters connected to the functionality of the air drier.
Calibrating - resetting, setting parameters must be carried out in the following case:
Replacing air drier desiccant
Replacing compressor
Activating/shutting off the air drier warning system
Information about remaining life and consumed amount of desiccant can also mean that
replacement of the desiccant holder is carried out sooner as a preventative measure.See
separate sub-test for additional information.
59358-3 - Steering angle sensor, calibration
The purpose of calibration is to give the steering angle sensor a reference point to then supply
the ESP- control unit with accurate information about the angle of the steering shaft. This
reference point is defined as being straight ahead. It is therefore extremely important that the
vehicle is positioned with the front wheels pointing straight ahead. After calibration, PSID 53 FMI
13 becomes inactive is erased. PSID 36 FMI 2 and PSID 41 FMI 14 are activated.
The ESP control unit carries out an adjustment of the steering angle sensor value when driving
forwards for approximately 3 km. After adjustment PSID 36 FMI 2 and PSID 41 FMI 14 are
automatically erased and the ESP function is activated.
1. Position the vehicle on a flat surface. The front wheels must be pointing straight ahead (+/- 1°).
2. Activate calibration.
3. Check that fault code MID 136 PSID 53 FMI 13 becomes inactive.
4. Drive the vehicle for approximately 10 kilometres until the information lamp goes out (MID 136
PSID 36 FMI 2 is erased).
The instrument displays how much has been carried out by the calibration under the vehicle
message menu.
59361-3 - Sensor yaw rate, calibration
The purpose of calibration is to give the yaw rate sensor a reference point to then supply the
ESP control unit with accurate information about the angle of the vehicle. It is therefore important
that the vehicle is positioned on a flat surface. Calibration must be carried out when: - The
position of the sensor has moved - The sensor has been replaced - The fault code indicates that
calibration must be carried out.
1. Position the vehicle on a flat surface. It must not be angled more than 3°.
2. Activate calibration.
3. Check that fault code MID 136 PSID 37 FMI 2 disappears after calibration.
59377-3 - Reinitiate learned parameters, calibration
This test is used to reinitiate the learned parameter data. The following parameters are reset:
1. Air gap parameter
2. Wheel circumference
3. Brake monitoring parameters
The test is done as a direct response to a fault code.

6 - Wheel suspension and steering

64235-3 - Steering angle sensor, steering gear/hydraulic cylinder, calibrating
The purpose of the calibration is to set the straight ahead position for the front axle and the
steered rear axle. Maximum permitted steering angles on the rear axle are limited by the control
unit.

Calibration must be performed in the following cases:

The ECU has been replaced .
Front or rear axle alignment has been changed.
Front or rear sensor for electronically controlled rear axle has been replaced.
The centering cylinder has been replaced.

Perform calibration as below:

1. Align the steering gear to straight ahead using the steering wheel.
2. Check that the steering gear is in the straight ahead position using the marking on the steering
wheel shaft and the steering gear.
3. Check that the drive and trailing wheels are in the straight ahead position using the measuring
equipment ("Parallel, Right angles, rear axles check").
4. Start the engine and activate "Initialize calibration".
5. Check the voltage using "Steering angle sensor front, signal voltage".
6. Activate "Front axle zero-position, calibration".
7. Check the voltage using "Steering angle sensor rear, signal voltage"
8. Align the steered rear axle to the straight ahead with "Rear axle steering, left/right".
9. Activate "Rear axle zero-position, calibration".
10. Save the results permanently by activating "Save calibrated values"
11. Switch off the ignition to activate calibrated values.
12. Calibration performed.

7 - Frame, springs, damping and wheels

72204-3 - Load sensor, calibration
Load sensor calibration should be carried out when one of the following actions have occured:
1. A damaged/malfunctioning sensor has been replaced.
2. The sensor has been removed to complete other work.
3. The attached wire, rod or tensioning device has been removed or replaced.

The calibration shall be carried out as instructed below:

1. The vehicle bogie weight (2 drive axles) must be determined before continuing with the
calibration operation, either by weighing the vehicle or from the relevant documentation. The
vehicle must be weighed without load and the result will be referred to as value (A).
2. The vehicle shall be placed on a level surface, with the parking brake released and the wheels
chocked.
3. Remove and replace the damaged/fault component(s).
4. Start the calibration by reading out the vehicle unloaded rear axle weight. This will be referred
as value (B).
5. Subtract the displayed unloaded rear axle weight (B) from the actual vehicle weight (A) to get
the weight of the superstructure. This will be referred to as value (C). A-B = C
6. Reset the rear axle weight compensation using the relevant subtest.
7. Open Impact function group 722, Load sensor value, specifications, and use the table to
cross-reference value (C) with the appropriate voltage value.
8. Connect break out box 88890039 between the sensor and wiring harness (see figure here).
9. Measure the voltage between the sensor signal (pin 4) and the sensor ground (pin 2) with
multimeter 8889074
10. Adjust the sensor signal voltage readout to the voltage value taken from the table. Adjust the
sensor arm position by drawing the wire up and down until the correct voltage value is
measured.
11. Tension the wire without moving the sensor arm and tighten the bracket to the tension rod.
12. Remove the break out box 88890039 and reconnect the sensor with the wiring harness.
Check that no related fault codes are set after the calibration.
72881-3 - Level sensor, calibration
Calibration of the level sensor should be performed when:
- Any of the level sensors have been changed.
- Work has been performed on the level sensor.
- The control unit has been changed. - Incorrect drive height is experienced after entering factory
settings into the control box.If uncertainty in performing calibration occurs, refer to service
information group 728 "Level sensor, calibration".
The difference compared with previous level sensors calibration is the calibration height, H2.
IMPLEMENTATION:
1. Make sure that the vehicle is not loaded.
2. Rectify any fault codes.
3. Chock the wheels and release the parking brake.
4. Start the engine and fill the system up with compressed air until the compressor releases
pressure.
5. Raise the vehicle with the control box.
6. Position spacers (9998626) according to service information group 728 "Level sensor,
calibration" but use the following measurement instead: H2 Distance rear = 307 mm
7. Lower the vehicle onto the spacers with the control box, without draining the air bellows.
8. Calibration shall be performed with the control box operating button in the upper position,
"MAN1".
9. Perform calibration. 10. Turn off ECS and remove the spacers.
72907-3 - Load sensor, adjustment
The adjuster is used if correct calibration was not possible due to poor roads or conditions. The
control unit must be restarted to activate the changes. The easiest way to do this is to turn the
key to the stop position and then back to the drive position. This adjustment will only modify the
axle weights and not the load weight of the tractor vehicle.
1. Adjust weight display on the drive axle.
2. Turn the ignition key to 0 position and then back to the drive position.
3. Check the weight display against scales.
76405-3 - Front axle pressure limitation, calibrating
The test is used to calibrate the load indicator on the front axle on vehicles with front leaf spring
suspension. Calibration must be carried out when:
-The fault code for uncalibrated front axle sensor (PSID 15) returns, for example when the control
unit has been replaced.
-The load indicator is newly installed.
-The leaf spring suspension on the front axle has been replaced.

Calibration cannot be completed if there is an active fault (PSID 17). It is important that the
vehicle is completely level and stationary during calibration. The front axle weight must be
measured with scales offering a precision of +/-25 kg or 0.5% inaccuracy. The load must be
symmetrically positioned, between the right and left sides. The fuel tank must not be more than
half filled. The bogie load must be less than the maximum permitted drive axle load.
77602-3 - Tyre pressure monitoring, calibration
In order to calibrate the TPM control unit, the vehicle configuration must be entered, i.e. how
many axles and which type of tyre the vehicle has. Calibration must be performed in the following
cases:
Control unit changed.
Number of axles changed.

Calibration is performed as described below:

1. State if it is a truck or a trailer that is to be calibrated.
2. State the number of axles the vehicle has.
3. State the number of wheels and type of wheel mounted on each axle, as well as the tyre
reference pressure. Follow the tyre manufacturers recommendation.
4. If the picture agrees with the vehicle configuration, continue to the next step, otherwise go
back.
5. Check the box if all information is correct, calibration will then be concluded.
6. Turn the key to the stop position to store the calibrated values. Start "Tyre pressure monitoring
truck, test" and "Tyre pressure monitoring trailer, test" respectively to read off, add or edit
module-ID.
