REFLECTION

In the CLASH of CLANS assignment, we chose the polygons units because we thought that

showing polygons with visual supplementary documents supports comprehension of students. We

thought that for effective teaching of this topic, teacher should use visual materials to draw their

attentions and promote their thinking. Also, we wanted to express polygons form different

perspectives for this reason, technology provided many opportunities to visualization. After

choosing unit, we got some problem at the beginning of the assignment. For example, in the

writing State Standards and Objectives, we couldn’t decide the condition of objective easily

because we had not been decided teaching strategies, media, and materials. We spent most of

time to arrange the materials & assessment tools to lesson plans because these are crucial factors

to make the lesson more effective, attractive and understandable. When we prepare our lesson

plans, we chose 3 objectives for 3 lesson plan and we determined the each lesson time according

to length of the subject and activity times. We allocated more time for long lesson that includes

more content and activity. Also, we checked the curriculum of Ministry of Education to decide

the time and to write correct objective. For each lesson plan, we allocated media and materials

according to learning outcomes. Moreover, for better students' understanding, we tried to choose

the most appropriate and effective way to teach therefore, we considered the methods and

materials.

Our approach is generally student-centered like discussion or cooperative learning to be more

interactive learning environment. Since, we believe more learning will take place as students take

an active role. For this reason, our aim of the activity is to encourage student’s engagement.

These classroom activities generally were formed by task-based instructions that is formed by

collaborative and team-based groups. We planned our instructional methods, according to the
materials and tools. Also, we thought that in classroom environment, we will have a variety type

of students from different background, race or social status. In addition, there might be students

that have different cognitive intelligence. Because of these, when we are choosing instructional

methods, we considered these and to prevent this, we thought that we can use group activities.

For example, we can create heterogeneous groups, also apply jigsaw and achievement team based

methods. Furthermore, we were developed materials and assessment tools that are planned to be

used in the course plan. We made a presentation for explaining the topic well via using Prezi. We

made a concept map using bubbl.us to promote students exploration and thinking deeply. It is

related to the properties of polygons. In addition, we made an infographic using pictochart and a

video using PowToon. Using Google Form, we prepared an online survey of 11 Questions for

Student Assessment. Finally, we created a website to publish our project on online to share these

materials with others by using weebly.
