Manager, HED Strategy and Market Research May 2007 – Nov 2014
Responsible for strategic planning and product portfolio management in HED. Integrated three market-
research teams into a new 10-person organization responsible for Marketing Research and Analytics.
EXPERIENCE
(CONTINUED)  Led planning for Bluetooth Speaker Domination (2012). Product-line strategy that created a $500M
business with a dominant (>30%) market share in portable Bluetooth speakers from 2014-2016.
 Visionary and Senior Product Manager for Solo TV Speaker (2012). Novel under-TV speaker targeting
bedroom use. Delivered over $100M in annual revenue, and captured the #1 spot in the audio-for-video
category immediately upon launch and held it for 2 ½ years. Received Bose Vice President’s Award.

Technology Strategy Manager, New Product Planning May 2002 – May 2007
Led a team responsible for HED new-product planning. We served as Technical Product Managers for
dozens of new Bose products: identified new product opportunities, created requirements specifications,
cliented customer research studies, and championed ideas through the development process. NPP also
assessed the impact of emerging technology on Bose’s strategic goals, and managed the Long-Range
Plan—the roadmap that linked strategy to new-product investments.
 Hired, managed, and mentored Technical Product Managers and built organizational capabilities.
Recruited and managed four NPP team members; one is now a Bose senior leader. Created the processes that
Bose still uses for new-product-portfolio management, long-range planning, and early-stage product-
requirements specification. Received Bose President’s Award for this work.
 Served as Technical Product Manager for five Bose products. Leading champion for the SoundDock iPod
speaker system and the AL8 Wireless HomeWide audio link. Early champion for Bose’s “Sourceless” approach
to home-theater-in-a-box, which led to the Cinemate digital home theater and the Lifestyle V-Series products.
 Wrote and edited 25 Technology Assessment Whitepapers assessing external technology change and
recommending action for Bose. Topics included High-Definition DVD and Streaming Audio.

Responsible for analysis of the entertainment industry (movies, music, and videogames), and supporting
technology. Led Forrester’s coverage of Napster and the peer-to-peer network revolution— Forrester’s
