Introduction

In a municipality, there are

several sections divided to make a
barangay. Even if they exist in the
same municipality, the amount and
the most needed businesses may
vary in every place. In the subject,
Applied Economics of grade XII-
ABM handled by Mrs. Retchel
Obenza, the group V members are
assigned to make a survey in
Barangay Yati about the different
industries or businesses registered
in the area and tally which category
the business falls.

The data that will be gathered

through a survey records of the
registered businesses in the
barangay. The group V members
segregate the businesses of what
type do the entrepreneurs of
Barangay Yati deal with because
the given data of the Barangay
wasn’t segregate yet. The data
gathered will be the basis of the
recommendation of this paper.
The types of businesses will be
tallied and graphed accordingly.
The group V members will
suggest a type of business and
write the reason for their
decision.

There are a total of 550 businesses registered within the Barangay Yati. The group V
members are sorting the papers or the records of the business from the barangay from the year
2017 and classified the industries into twelve (10) simplified categories, namely: (1) services, (2)
trading, (3) electricity, gas, water, (4) transportation, (5) real estate, (6) construction, (7) banking
& finance, (8) cooperative, (9) merchandising, and (10) manufacturing

Conclusion

The group V members conclude that the biggest industry in Barangay Yati is the trading
business. Trading businesses are businesses that buy products and sell it to customers. Having
212 trading businesses scattered in the area means that this kind of industry is needed and in
demand in the place.

Business Opportunity and Recommendation

As an area with abounding amount of trading businesses, the members of the group want
to suggest more manufacturing businesses. Manufacturing businesses will surely be in demand
because it supplies directly plus the prices of the materials the businessmen who are in for trade
industries will buy will be much lower because of buying in bulks and directly. There are the
only 44 manufacturing lines that would be lesser in ratio with the 212 trading and 55
merchandising businesses it can supply for.

Aside from the edge of being in demand, manufacturing businesses have a tax advantage
because all manufacturing overhead costs are deductible which allows entrepreneurs to reduce
their taxable income that leads to lesser stress. Having this type of industry will help lessen
commuting costs and the burden for looking for far factories by the residents and the aspiring
entrepreneurs. One more thing, having a manufacturing business in the area can be very
beneficial for the locals because of the accessible employment it brings. It is a win-win situation
for both the manufacturer and the buyers.
