HOW CAN I IMPROVE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS OF PAKISTAN:

Pakistan’s economy has done fairly ok but when you compare it with other regional economies
then it has fared rather poorly. GDP growth rate is 5.8% which is not bad but it should be around
6-7%. For me these are the following steps that pakistan can use it to improve their economy.

1. Education system: Pakistan needs to reform and improve its education system by
bringing more women into the education sector and more women into the workforce. For
me women education is very important as it helps improve the economy by lowering
fertility rate and makes use of human resource. In Pakistan the fertility rate is high and is
unsustainable at 3.2 which needs to go down to atleast around 2.4-2.5. This will create a
stabilizing population and will also allow parents to focus more on their kids education.
More over Better standards of education improve the efficiency and productivity of
labour force and effect the economic development. So education quality is essential to
increase the economic growth and human capital abilities for the country. The
government should increase the expenditure on education sector to promote research and
development activities and improve the quality of education in order to improve the
economy's growth performance.

2. Foreign policy : Pakistan has had a poor foreign policy and its relation with its neighbors
have been poor. For too long, the army has decided Pakistan's foreign policy who have
made continous mistakes with regards to their foreign policy. I believe relations with
India and Afghanistan need to improve and they will also help improve the economy with
more trade and investment.

3. Investment: From an economic standpoint Pakistan needs to scale up its manafacturing

and industrial sector by investing in industries .Pakistan also needs to improve its
agricultural sector by investing in new technologies to help upscale the agricultural
sector.Pakistan IT sector is still in its nascent stage and is something to look forward to in
the next few years.

4. Tourism: Tourism has become an important sector that has an impact on the development
of the country’s economy. The main benefits of tourism are income creation and
generation of jobs. For many regions and countries, it is the most important source of
welfare. The ability of the national economy to benefit from tourism depends on the
availability of investment to develop the necessary infrastructure and on its ability to
supply the needs of tourists. It is one of the most rapidly growing industries in the world,
which accounts for 10 percent of the global GDP.
Pakistan has lot of places to attract tourists apart from Walled city of Lahore, Old
Civilization of Harrapa, Mohinjodor and Texilla where people are still living , there are
lot of other places like Katas Raj Temple, Mughal Architectures in various places and
Definitely Northern Areas of Pakistan are like a heaven for tourists, but to attract tourist
Pakistan have to maintain its stability. Out of the total tourists’ arrivals in the world
estimated at 694 million per year but Pakistan receives only 0.5 million tourists annually, a
very low figure. Pakistan does not have a good international image. Rather there are many
places where the country’s image is one of intolerance, extremism, insecurity,
superstitions, and diseases. Image building is a matter of both perception and reality. The
reality in Pakistan is not as bad as the perception of it. Therefore, besides improving the
tourism environment, there is a great need to erase the negative perception about the
country. This is primarily the responsibility of Pakistan’s missions abroad. We need to
arrange tourism promotion activities to rediscover the image of Pakistan.
