After Twenty Years

It was a busy day on New York City, the sun was shining bright. A
policeman is on his way on the street, checking the doors of every business
stores if it is locked. Suddenly, he met a man with a cigar standing on the
doorway of a hardware store. He approached the man and the latter said
that he is waiting for his friend-- who had agree to meet him at that
specific spot, twenty years ago. The man lighted his cigar. The policeman,
being observant, described the man as a pale, square-jawed face with keen
eyes and little white scar near on his right eyebrow. He also has a diamond
on his scarf, indicating that he is wealthy. They started to have a
conversation about the man's friend, named Jimmy. According to the man,
his friend was like a brother to him but unfortunately they have to part
ways because Jimmy will test his luck on the West. Before parting, they
made an agreement that they will meet again after twenty years with no
given condition and they are required to come. The man waiting showed
his fancy watch embedded diamonds. The police officer told him how rare
that object is. The man replied him that what Jimmy had achieved in the
West; he also achieved the half of it. He is confident that his old friend will
meet him if he is still alive, whatever the circumstances is because they
made a promise together. The policeman continues his way while the man
is still waiting on the hardware until the rain begins to fall. After a couple
of minutes, a tall figure wearing a coat approached him and hesitatingly
asks if he is Bob. It turns out that this man is a plain clothed police officer
sent to arrest Bob, a known criminal from the West. The first policeman
doesn't have the courage to arrest Bob for he is Jimmy, and they were
bestfriends for the last twenty years.
