A101 assignment submission guide

1. Log into the VLE and navigate to Week 9 > 9.2.7 Assignment.

Scroll down below the summary instructions and the screen should look as per Fig. 1
below:

2. To add a draft assignment, click on the Add submission button.

Note: The Make changes to your submission link will become active once a
submission is made.

3. The Assignment page will then reload and display a file upload field below the
summary instructions as per Fig. 2 below:

4. Click on the Add icon highlighted in Fig. 3 below:

5. On the File picker pop up dialog box, make sure that ‘Upload a file’ is selected in the
left hand menu, then click on the Browse button as per Fig. 4 below:

6. In the File Upload dialog box, navigate to your saved assignment document and click
Open. The File picker dialog should then display the filename of your document next
to the Browse button. Click the blue Upload this file button. (Fig. 5)

7. The Assignment page will then reload and display the uploaded file in the file upload
field below the summary instructions. Click the blue Save changes button to add the
file as a draft. (Fig. 6)

8. The Assignment page will then reload and display an updated version of the
Submission status table showing information about your submission. (Fig. 7)

9. Note that the Submission status row in the left hand of the table above states ‘Draft
(not submitted)’

Up until the assignment due date, a submission can be edited any number of times
by clicking the Edit submission button. This will display the page as per Fig. 6 above

To upload a new assignment, click the large file icon. (Fig. 8)

10. In the Edit The Assignment pop up dialog, click the Delete button as shown below in
Fig. 9.

11. Click the blue OK button in the next pop up dialog. (Fig. 10) A new assignment
document can then be uploaded by following steps 3-8 above.

12. A comment can also be added for each draft upload. To add a comment, click on the
Comments link in the Submission comments row in the left hand of the table (Fig. 11)

13. Enter a comment into the comment field and then click Save comment (Fig. 12)

When you’ve made all your changes and are ready to submit for marking
14. The assignment can be submitted to be marked by clicking the Submit Assignment
button. (Fig. 13)

15. Please click the disclaimer checkbox and click the blue Continue button as shown in
Fig. 14.

16. The Assignment page will then reload and display an updated version of the
Submission status table showing information about the final submission. The
Submission status row in the left hand of the table is now displayed as Submitted for
grading (Fig. 15)

• You will receive an automated email confirming your assignment submission.

• When your allocated marker has completed marking and posted their feedback
comments, you will receive an automated email.

17. To view the marker’s feedback, log in and navigate to the Assignment page as
previously. Scroll down below the Submission status table to the Previous attempts
section and click on the arrow next to the Attempt 1 heading as shown in Fig. 16.

18. With the previous attempt’s section expanded, the grade, feedback comments and
feedback file (if uploaded) are available to view. To expand the feedback comments
section, click on the View full icon as shown in Fig. 17.

19. To open or download the feedback file (if one had been uploaded), click the filename
of the document as shown in Fig. 18.

20. If your assignment has been graded as ‘Not yet ready for certification’, then the
Submission status section will display ‘This is attempt 2’. To upload a revised
assignment, click on the Add a new attempt button (Fig. 19)

21. Upload the new assignment by clicking on the Add file icon and then browse for the
new file and upload.

22. Follow previous instructions for submitting the assignment.
