A Reflection of The Class

Over the Course of the Last Semester I have been working very hard in my College

Credit Plus Composition 1 class. This class has improved my life and taught me many different

things in the last few months that I have been working in this class. Of the many things that I

have learned to do and do efficiently include,writing essays and analyzing text that is given. My

writing has evolved greatly over the last six months, I have written some very challenging pieces

as well but many have been very rewarding. I have taken a lot away from this class as well and

will continue to learn more over the next few years of taking english classes and hope to learn

just as much as I did in this class.

During the last semester from which I have taken this CCP Composition 1 class with

Mrs. Wines at Canton South High School my writing and writing efficiency have improved

drastically. The first piece that I wrote for the class in August and through September was alright

and I did pretty well on it, but it took a very, very long time for me to write a piece that was only

around 1,000 words total. In contrast, the last essay that I wrote, the final research essay, was

done in only a few days over the course of the week before it was due and was almost 2,000

words and My final evaluation of it was much higher along with its grade. This is shown that my

writing and mainly my writing efficiency has gone up significantly over the last five to six

months.

I believe that my most rewarding piece that I have written over the course of the CCP

Composition 1 class is more than likely the group essay that we had written a few months ago

and was due in November. In my experience this essay was very rewarding to plan, research,

write, and make the slide show all of the way up to our presentation in November. This piece

was rewarding in my opinion, not because we got a good grade or evaluation, but because of the

teamwork that was employed by my group in order to get the project done and done well. I

Think that this one stands out a lot because we didn’t do all that when graded but I still felt good

about it and the work that was put into it over the few weeks that my group and I worked on it in

the class.

Going along with the group research essay, not only do I believe that it was the most

rewarding piece that I have helped write in the last few months, but I also believe to be the most

challenging piece in the repertoire that I have written over the months that I have been in this

class. I believe that it is something about the teamwork that made it especially difficult, and one

top of it, the topic that we chose was, in my experience, very difficult to complete and stay on

topic without straying too far from the theme of “The Joy of Music at First Friday.” I think that

the difficulty in writing this piece is also what tied it in to be the most rewarding piece that I have

written in the end of it all.

I am taking a lot away from this class. I think that so far this year, this may have been one

of the most rewarding classes that I have taken and experienced over the last semester. I am

writing this here essay quite quickly in the last few days before it was due and am able to do this

because of the writing styles and techniques that I have learned in this class over the course of

this class during this semester. I have taken a lot away from this class, from writing styles to

different things to write and think about the fact that I haven’t before. This class has, in fact,

taught me a whole lot about college level writing and what is expected from students in these

college level classes and how to surpass those expectations in order to do well in a college level

class like Composition 1. I am very happy that I took this class and took a lot of time out of my

day working on this class, but the experience was worth it all the way and I hope for the same in

Composition 2 next semester.
