II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
RECYCLLETS & BAGS is aAproject that focuses on the recycling of
tetra packs and junk food wrappers. P It involves the process of connecting
recreation to the current environmental issues. As the number of garbage,
U

the idea of recycling should be instilled to every resident of the community.

junk food wrappers, not as mere trash, but as something significant which
can be used for decorations or better off, livelihood. Furthermore, a
seminar will be conducted regarding the different ways’ tetra packs and
junk food wrappers can be recycled into wallets and bags. Subsequently,
there will be an opportunity for them to apply what they’ve learned. The
residents will be given different tetra packs, junk food wrappers and art
materials. Their task is to be creative as they can in recycling them into
something useful which they can use at home or sell. Through the
activities prepared for them, the residents would be able to learn and
improve their knowledge on recycling tetra packs and junk food wrappers
as well as to take care of the environment.

III. PROJECT RATIONALE

In the past years, the Philippines’ socio-economic development has
been a stable aspect of the country, even constantly improving as years
pass by. However, it has set aside the environmental aspect that has been
drastically declining over the years. Subsequently, it has given rise to most
of the devastating catastrophes we know today. And part of its
consequences was the adversities brought to our countrymen, both
individuals and their communities. Moreover, it has been specifically
difficult for those who have limited resources. Plaza (as cited in Remo,
2016) mentioned that over 35, 000 tons of wastes every day are being
produced by the country. Related to this, according to Kenny et al. (2016),
one of the prominent environmental issues of the country was brought
upon by waste disposal problems. Not only that, improper waste disposal
also becomes the main root of multiple community hazards like pollutions,
disasters, and diseases.
As students of Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) of Mapúa
University, with the primary concern for the betterment of the university
and the community and conclusively the environment, proposes the
project entitled RECYCLETTS AND BAGS which generally aims to teach
different ways of making the most out of plastic bottles.

IV. PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

The project beneficiaries are 30 adults, aging 25 and above. Since
they are adults, they would be more creative on how tetra packs and junk
food wrappers can be recycled into wallets and bags. They have their own

technique and style in making the most out of it. They could make their
