DETAILS OF COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH

From the very beginning CCRAS is carrying out its research activities through
ISM Institutions/Hospitals in collaboration with modern medical Institute/Hospital. Council
is having linkages with modern Institutions like Industrial Toxicological Research Centre,
Lucknow, Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, National Institute of Nutrition,
Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, T.N. Medical College,
Mumbai for pharmacological and toxicological studies of research drugs. A collaborative
clinical research study on Bronchial asthma is in progress with NAAMI Medical Centre,
Moscow, Russia. Many multicentric studies are also being conducted through modern
Institutions/Hospitals. Some other collaborative research trials which are finalized/on

SOME IMPORTANT ONGOING RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Nutraceutical Research

• A study on effect of certain Ayurvedic Rasayana Food Supplements and Drink


has been conducted at Antarctica Expeditions organized by National Centre for
Antarctic and Ocean Research, Government of India and the results are
encouraging in terms of immunomodulatory action, anti-oxidant effects besides
improvement in physical and physiological parameters.
• The council is developing an herbal drink named “AYUSH PANAK”, which is
useful for indigestion, loss of appetite and other related digestive disorders.
• Evaluation of Iron content of the food prepared in the Iron vessels in comparison
with other metal vessels and study of its efficacy in raising hemoglobin
percentage shows encouraging result.

Cosmaceutical Research

• The Council is developing a face pack as de-pigmentation agent to be used in


melasma. The safety study of the drug is completed and it is proved to be
clinically safe as regards to external application. The toxicity study of the drug is
in progress.
• An anti crack cream is also developed by the Council and its safety and efficacy
study is under process.

Biomedical instrumentation

• Automization of the instruments used in Panchakarma therapy is in progress in


collaboration with IIT, Delhi

Family Welfare Research

• Clinical and Pharmacological Research studies carried out so far in the field of
Family Welfare Research resulted in the development of “PIPPALYADI YOGA”
as an Oral Contraceptive and “Neem Oil” as spermicidal agent.
• The toxicity study, Teratogenic study and Phase I study pf Pippalyadi Yoga has
been completed and no toxicity, teratogenicity and adverse effect have been
reported.
• A multicentric Phase II clinical trial is in progress at AIIMS, New Delhi, PGI,
Chandigarh, K E M Hospital Mumbai and JIPMER, Pondicherry.

Reproductive and Child Health Care Programme

• The Council has developed two drugs i.e. Bal Rasayan and Ayush Ghutti for the
general health of children.
• A feasibility study on mainstreaming of Indian System of Medicine into National
RCH Programme at Primary Health Centre (PHC) level is being carried out in
collaboration with ICMR.

2. For Senior Citizens (documents to be verified/at the discretion of In-charge).

3. Research Programme cases of Council – Exempted from all charges.
4. Patients belong to BPL (Below Poverty Line) (documents to be verified at the
discretion of In-charge)- exempted from all charges.
5. Botanical and Chemical analysis for students coming for study purpose – 50%
discount may be given.
6. The Institute may circulate drug testing Rate List to pharmaceuticals/industries.
7. The Institute may issue certificate regarding standardization and testing report
(Report is not valid for legal purpose).
8. Printing of Receipt Books may be done at the Institute level subject to the
condition that the Sr. Nos. of the Receipt Books will be maintained.
9. Any other resources if identified by any institute, the concerned In-charge may fix
