I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate un understanding of the
properties of substances that distinguish them from
mixtures.
B. Performance Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of the
investigation of the properties of mixtures of varying
concentrations using available materials in the
community for specific purposes.
C. Learning Competencies / The learners shall be able to distinguish mixtures from
Objectives substances based on a set of properties (SSP_S7MT-Ie-f-
8), specifically, the students are expected to:
1. Identify the different separation techniques;
2. Perform some separation techniques; and
3. Relate the different separation techniques in
identifying mixtures and pure substances.
II. CONTENT

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing of previous lesson or ELICIT
presenting the new lesson. - Review of the previous lesson on Solutions.
B. Establishing a purpose for the ENGAGE
lesson. - Let’s Play Letters
C. Presenting examples / instances The students will be tasked to go to their
of the new lesson. assigned groups and they will be given
set of letters that they need to arrange and
show to the class.
The words that will be arranged by each
group will be processed to guess the topic
for the day.
D. Discussing new concepts and EXPLORE
practicing new skills #1 Activity: Try to Separate Me
- Each group will be assigned for a specific mixture
E. Discussing new concepts and that they will need to separate by using the
practicing new skills #2 applicable separation techniques.
Group 1 – separate sand and iron fillings
Group 2 – separate salt and water
Group 3 – separate sand and water
Group 4 – separate monggo seeds and water
Group 5 – separate skittles by colors
Group 6 – separate pebbles and water
F. Developing mastery (leads to a. How do we apply the performed separation
Formative Assessment) techniques in identifying mixtures and pure
substances?
b. What are the results of your separation
activity?
c. How do we label the separated substances?
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the
evaluation.
B. No. of learners who require additional
activities for remediation.
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well?
Why did this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with other
