Guidelines of the proposal set for Fire Department approval.

The submission set shall include the following subjects; however registered architect
would expand or modify to suit his presentation.

General Data
1. Data sheets, which would include the total floor area, floor areas of every
storeys, Occupancy types and Loads, Fire resistance of main structural system
of building.

Means of Egress
2. Plans indicatingoccupancy types and related ventilation system. (NV/AC/MV),
and the travel distances, egress component such as corridor widths and exit
discharge path.
3. Plans of exit stair at exit discharge level and other typical levels showing egress
width ofexit doors, stair width,stair riser /tread and fire resistance of exit stair
case walls and doors.
4. Plans with exist signs and emergency lighting points.

Fire Compartment

5. Sections showing fire compartment together with floor to floor height and ceiling
height/ raised floor height if any.

Fire Engine Accessibility


6. Ground floor plan outlines the Fire Engine driveways which are paved to
withstand the load of fire Engines and highlighting Breechinginlet locations and
Fire hydrants locations if they are provided.
7. Section showing Fire Engine Access to Firemen access panels.
8. Elevations showing firemen access panels.

Fire alarm/protection Systems


9. This would include the alarm systems such as fire alarm system, heat/smoke
detection system.
10. Plans indicating the locations of smoke/heat detector and manual call point/bell.
11. Description of how audio and visual advisory systems are provided.
Fire Fighting System
12. Schematic diagram showing how the hose reel system/rising main system,
sprinkler system is included together with water storagetanks; break tanks,
pumps system andfloor to floor height.
13. Hose reel pumps/ rising mains pumps and sprinkler pumps specification.
14. Plans highlighting the locations of fire extinguisher,hose reels, rising mains, fire
hoses, and how fire hoses can cover (Hose Reel and Fire Hose coverage).
15. Plans showing locations sprinkler coverage if it is provided.

Mechanical and Electrical systems

16. The description of emergency lifts control.


17. The description of 24 hours emergency backup power systemsof
-electrical fire alarm system
-exit or emergency lighting system
-emergency voice communication system
-a wet rising main system
-sprinkler system
- AC / Mechanical ventilation for
(i) exit staircases and exit passageways;
(ii) smoke-stop and firefighting lobbies;
(iii) areas of refuge within the same building;
(iv) basement car parks;
(v) fire command centres;
(vi) flammable liquid/gas storage rooms

18. The description of the mechanical systems if mechanical ventilation and


pressurization systems are provided.

Others
19. Elaborate if other fire safety features such as foam system, smoke exhaust
system, fire curtains etc;are provided.
