Electrical system repair methods used on the Super King Air 200 must be made in accordance with the FAA Aircraft
Inspection and Repair Manual, AC43.13-1B and Aircraft Alterations Manual, AC43.13-2B. Any components
replaced and any wire, cable or terminals used in the maintenance of the electrical system must be of airplane
quality. Any solder connections must be made in an approved manner. Any solderless terminals or splices used
must be applied with tooling specified by the supplier. Always remove electrical power from the system being
repaired and pay specific attention to all electrical bonding requirements. Detailed schematics, which include
specific pin and plug numbers, may be found in the applicable Super King Air 200 Wiring Diagram Manual.
AC GENERATION
AC generation is accomplished through the two inverters, individually installed in the wing center section outboard
of each nacelle. An inverter select switch, placarded INVERTER NO 1, OFF, INVERTER NO 2 on the pilot’s
outboard subpanel, provides control over the inverter system. When either inverter is selected with the inverter
select switch, DC power is supplied to the selected inverter. An inverter select relay provides the switching
necessary to connect the 400 Hertz, 26-vac and 400 Hertz, 115-vac outputs to the selected instruments, test jack
and inverter warning relay. The inverter select relay, mounted on a relay panel assembly under the cabin center
aisle floor aft of the aft spar, is energized anytime the number one inverter is selected. The inverter warning relay is
energized by a 115-vac output from either inverter, thereby preventing illumination of the red INST INV warning
annunciator. The inverter warning relay is installed on the electrical panel assembly which is mounted on the aft side
of the forward pressure bulkhead above the copilot's rudder pedals. The annunciator does not monitor 26 vac. The
26-vac output is used to power a minimum amount of avionics. The torque indicating system on BB-2 through
BB-1483 and BB-1485; BL-1 through BL-72, BL-124 through BL-140; BN-1 through BN-4; BT-1 through BT-38 and
the fuel flow indication on BB-2 through BB-224; BT-1 and BT-2 were powered by 26 vac. Subsequent airplanes use
a DC powered torque and fuel flow indicating system. Refer to Chapter 39-20-00 for an illustration of the electrical
panels.
On BB-91 and After; BT-1 and After; BL-1 and After; and BN-1 and After; BY-1 and After and BZ-1 and After, a
voltage/frequency meter is installed to monitor inverter outputs. The meter is located on the overhead panel. The
meter normally monitors frequency, unless the button in the lower left hand corner of the meter is pressed, at which
time it functions as a voltmeter to monitor voltage. The indicator only reflects the 115-vac signal.
The inverter system described herein is the standard installation. The AC circuit diagram in Chapter 24-20-00 of the
applicable Super King Air 200 Wiring Diagram Manual provides a schematic of the AC power circuit for standard
airplane instrumentation. Due to the wide variety of customer requested avionics options installed in the different
airplanes, avionics wiring diagrams are supplied with each airplane to provide schematics of the avionics portion of
the AC power system. Refer to these avionics wiring diagrams for information on any modifications which may have
been made to the standard installation.

DC GENERATION
A 24-volt, 36-ampere-hour battery and two 30-volt, 250-ampere starter-generators are connected in parallel and
provide the airplane’s source of DC electrical power. The battery is located in the right wing center section forward
of the main spar. It is air-cooled through a thermostatically controlled valve installed at the air inlet tube adjacent to
the battery drain. The response of the thermostat to changes in temperature determines the relative position of the
flapper valve in the air inlet tube. The valve is designed to operate from the fully closed to fully open position across
a temperature range of 30° to 80°F.
When the battery switch is placed in the ON position, the battery relay is energized, connecting battery power to a
pair of starter relays and to the starter relay/external power bus. The battery relay is located outboard of the battery
box. The starter relays and starter relay/external power bus are mounted on the forward subspar of the outboard
right wing center section. When the battery relay is energized, battery power is routed to the DC Power Panel
Assembly below the cabin center aisle floor forward of the main spar.
On airplanes prior to BB-88, the DC output from each starter-generator is routed through the reverse current relay,
the volt/loadmeter shunt, the dual fed buses, and the bus isolation current limiters on the DC power panel assembly.
The reverse current relay, the volt/loadmeter shunt, and the generator current limiters are located on the DC power
panel assembly.
Later airplanes, with serials BB-88 and After; BT-1 and After; BL-1 and After; BN-1 and After; BY-1 and After and
BZ-1 and After, are equipped with line contactor relays which are controlled by the generator control units to provide
reverse current protection. The line contactors and the volt/loadmeter shunts for the affected serials are mounted
under the center aisle floor, forward of the main spar.

b. Voltage (115 volt range) may be monitored at the blue test point under the copilot's subpanel to verify the
accuracy of the airplanes volt/frequency meter.
NOTE: A meter with AC voltage and frequency capability would be preferred. If that is not available a precision
voltmeter with an AC scale would suffice provided the Volt/Frequency meter in the airplane is functional.
e. Confirm 115 vac voltage reads 115 ± 11.5 vac and 400 ± 20 Hz frequency.
NOTE: Only the 115 vac can be assessed from the test jack and/or the airplane's meter. 115 vac readings may also
be obtained from the terminal board at panel A226 or A120.
1. On BB-2 through BB-1483 and BB-1485; BT-1 through BT-38; BL-1 through BL-140; BN-1 through BN-4
the torque indication system was powered by 26 vac.
2. The fuel flow indication was powered by 26 vac on BB-2 through BB-223; BT-1 and BT-2.
1. Check the 26 vac directly on the terminal board at panel A226, Step a) or A120, Step b) below:
a) Terminal board on A226 panel located on the copilot's side forward pressure bulkhead above the
copilot's rudder pedals.
b) Terminal board on A120 panel under the center aisle floor aft of the aft spar. Refer to the appropriate
Super King Air Wiring Diagram Manual, Chapter 24.

CAUTION: Voltage is required to energize the avionics master power relays to remove the power from the avionics
equipment; therefore, never apply external power to the airplane without first applying battery voltage.
If the battery is removed from the airplane or if the battery switch is placed in the off position, connect
an external battery in parallel to the external power unit prior to energizing the power unit.
b. Remove the center aisle floorboards and covers as necessary to gain access to the power distribution panel -
(A145).
d. Turn the battery master switch ON or apply power from an auxiliary ground power unit.
CAUTION: Verify both pitot masts are free of obstructions before operating the pitot heat systems in the following
steps. Pitot heat should only be applied for a short interval of time.
e. Bus voltage should be present on the right generator bus (W109). This may be verified by attempting to
momentarily operate the right pitot heat system. Successful operation of the right pitot heat system will cause
the R PITOT HEAT caution annunciator to extinguish. Operation of the right pitot heat system will verify
continuity of the right isolation limiter (F132).
f. By observing the following annunciators, power to each of the four buses will be ensured: L FUEL PRESS, R
FUEL PRESS, L BL AIR FAIL and R BL AIR FAIL. If any of the annunciators fail to illuminate, the associated
limiter (F148, F149, F150 or F154), one of the four dual-bus-feeder diodes (CR2) or dual-bus circuit breakers
(RH NO. 1, RH NO. 2, RH NO. 3 or RH NO. 4) is open. If failure of an annunciator is apparent, reset or replace
the faulty component and repeat the test.
g. Attempt to momentarily operate the left pitot heat system. It should not operate. The L PITOT HEAT caution
annunciator should remain illuminated. If the left pitot heat system does operate (L PITOT HEAT caution
annunciator extinguishes) at least one of the dual-bus-feeder diodes is shorted. Detection of the shorted
diode(s) may be accomplished by performing the following steps:
1. Open the following dual-bus-feeder circuit breakers: LH NO.1, LH NO. 2, LH NO. 3 and LH NO. 4.
2. Momentarily operate the left pitot heat system. The L PITOT HEAT caution annunciator should remain
illuminated.

3. Close the LH NO. 1 circuit breaker. Momentarily operate the left pitot heat system. The L PITOT HEAT
caution annunciator should remain illuminated. If the L PITOT HEAT caution annunciator extinguishes, the
failed diode is on this circuit. Open the LH NO. 1 circuit breaker. Replace the diode (A134CR1).
4. Close the LH NO. 2 circuit breaker. Momentarily operate the left pitot heat system. The L PITOT HEAT
caution annunciator should remain illuminated. If the L PITOT HEAT caution annunciator extinguishes, the
failed diode is on this circuit. Open the LH NO. 2 circuit breaker. Replace the diode (A135CR1).
5. Close the LH NO. 3 circuit breaker. Momentarily operate the left pitot heat system. The L PITOT HEAT
caution annunciator should remain illuminated. If the L PITOT HEAT caution annunciator extinguishes, the
failed diode is on this circuit. Open the LH NO. 3 circuit breaker. Replace the diode (A143CR1).
6. Close the LH NO. 4 circuit breaker. Momentarily operate the left pitot heat system. The L PITOT HEAT
caution annunciator should remain illuminated. If the L PITOT HEAT caution annunciator extinguishes, the
failed diode is on this circuit. Open the LH NO. 4 circuit breaker. Replace the diode (A144CR1).
7. Close the following dual-bus-feeder circuit breakers: LH NO.1, LH NO. 2, LH NO. 3 and LH NO. 4.
i. Replace the left isolation limiter (F131). Remove the right isolation limiter (F132).
j. Turn the battery master switch ON or apply power from an auxiliary ground power unit.
k. Bus voltage should be present on the left generator bus (W108). This may be verified by attempting to
momentarily operate the left pitot heat system. Successful operation of the left pitot heat system will cause the
L PITOT HEAT caution annunciator to extinguish. Operation of the left pitot heat system will verify continuity of
the left isolation limiter (F131).
l. By observing the following annunciators, power to each of the four buses will be ensured: L FUEL PRESS, R
FUEL PRESS, L BL AIR FAIL and R BL AIR FAIL. If any of the annunciators fail to illuminate, the associated
limiter (F145, F146, F147 or F153), one of the four dual-bus-feeder diodes (CR1) or dual-bus circuit breakers
(LH NO. 1, LH NO. 2, LH NO. 3 or LH NO. 4) is open. If failure of an annunciator is apparent, reset or replace
the faulty component and repeat the test.
m. Attempt to momentarily operate the right pitot heat system. It should not operate. The R PITOT HEAT caution
annunciator should remain illuminated. If the right pitot heat system does operate (R PITOT HEAT caution
annunciator extinguishes) at least one of the dual-bus-feeder diodes is shorted. Detection of the shorted
diode(s) may be accomplished by performing the following steps:
1. Open the following dual-bus-feeder circuit breakers: RH NO.1, RH NO. 2, RH NO. 3 and RH NO. 4.
2. Momentarily operate the right pitot heat system. The R PITOT HEAT caution annunciator should remain
illuminated.
3. Close the RH NO. 1 circuit breaker. Momentarily operate the right pitot heat system. The R PITOT HEAT
caution annunciator should remain illuminated. If the R PITOT HEAT caution annunciator extinguishes, the
failed diode is on this circuit. Open the RH NO. 1 circuit breaker. Replace the diode (A134CR2).
4. Close the RH NO. 2 circuit breaker. Momentarily operate the right pitot heat system. The R PITOT HEAT
caution annunciator should remain illuminated. If the R PITOT HEAT caution annunciator extinguishes, the
failed diode is on this circuit. Open the RH NO. 2 circuit breaker. Replace the diode (A135CR2).
