Opening Salvo
Script

Live from the Brgy. Conalum Multi-Purpose Center, the Brgy. Conalum Fiesta
Executive Committee in partnership with the Conalum Brgy. Council, Sto. Niño Religious
Group, Conalum National High school and Conalum Elementary School proudly present the
Brgy. Conalum Fiesta Opening Salvo 2020!!!!

Trivia:
Santo Niño in Spanish (or Balaang Bata in Cebuano and Banal na Sanggol in Tagalog) is a
Roman Catholic title of the Child Jesus associated with a religious image of the Christ Child
widely venerated as miraculous by Filipino Catholics. The Santo Niño de Cebu is the oldest
Christian artefact in the Philippines, originally a gift from explorer Ferdinand Magellan to
Rajah Humabon and his chief consort on account of their baptism in 1521. The image is
replicated in various parts of our country with different titles and is one of the most beloved
and recognizable Filipino cultural icons which includes our Sto. Niño de Conalum.

So to formally start our program, please all rise for the Enthronement of the image of
our patron Sr. Sto. Niño de Conalum by an Invocation to be led by Bro. Justiniano Dautil.
Which will be followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem with the
accompaniment of the CNHS Drum and Bugle Corps. (Gihangyo ang tanan sa pagtindog)

------------- Invocation & Philippine National Anthem ---------------

And now, ladies and gents let us give a warm of applause for the opening remarks of our
Punong Barangay, the Honorable Camilo D. Boldios. Honorable Camilo D. Boldios, in his
opening remarks.

------------- Welcome Talk ---------------

Salamat kapitan sa imong mahinungdanon nga mensahe sa pagsugat sa atong programa

karung adlawa.

Trivia:
In this annual celebration, we Filipinos usually say “Pit Senyor!” Pero unsa man gyuy
meaning ana? Does everybody here know what does it means? Pit Senyor is composed of
two Cebuano words “Pit” and “Senyor”. The word “senyor” is a title of respect given to males.
In this instance, “Senyor” or “Senior” refers to the Holy Child Senior Sto Nino de Cebu to
whom the feast is also dedicated. 'Pit' is commonly attributed to the Cebuano word ”sangpit”
meaning “to call upon”. (Note that Cebuanos are very fond of shortening words like: balay
– bay, padulong – padung, dalan – dan). So many believe that “Pit” of Pit Senyor is the
shorten version of “Sangpit kang Senyor Sto. Niño” or to call upon Sr. Sto. Niño.

And now let us hear some heartfelt message and updates with regards to the fiesta activities
from our COFEXECOM Chairman, Brgy. Kagawad, Hon. Jocelyn D. Ponio. Hon. Jocelyn D.
Ponio in her messages and updates. A round of applause!

------------- Message ---------------

Thank you Honorable, for your sharing your message / updates with us. (For sure excited
na kayo ning mga Conalumnons) Viva! Viva! Viva! Pit Senyor!
Trivia:
Kung nakabantay mo, even days before the celebration, shouts of “Viva Senyor Sto. Niño”
always reverberate in every place especially kung mag Sinulog na. So unsa man diay nang
word nga “Viva!” What does it mean?
To shout “Viva!” is to shout gladness for all the blessings that the infant Jesus has given, a
thanksgiving, and a renewed sense of hope that Senyor Sto. Niño will always be there for
all of us who believes in Him.

And so, to give spices for our Opening Salvo today, without any further delay, let’s
all witness a variety of presentations to be rendered to us first by the Conalum National High
School Band, followed by the active Brgy. Council. After the Brgy. Council’s presentation
will be the Sto. Niño Religious Group, which will likewise be followed by the DepEd dance
number, and lastly will be a Zumba dance presentation. A round of applause!

That’s all for today’s event! Thank you and Once Again,
Viva Pit Senyor Sto. Niño!
This is your Toastmaster Ms. Dale Marie P. Renomeron, signing off!
