• I am Investigating Officer who investigated the dowry death case of Mrs. Alya Sanjeev.

Prosecution Witness No. 3: Mrs. Mano

• For the record of the court introduce yourself.


• I am Mrs. Mano, aged 52 years and I am a psychologist in Global Hospital and I also have
a clinic at home.

• How are you related to this case?

• I am the neighbor of the deceased, Alya Sanjeev.

• How did you get to know about the death of Mrs. Alya?

• On 8th July morning, I heard the outburst of Mr. Sanjeev and went there and was shocked
to see Alya reduced to a bag of bones. We admitted her in the hospital and she was kept
in ICU. On that day only after a few hours, I was informed that she died after giving the
dying declaration.

• Have you given any other statement before today?

• YES, the inspector took my statement on the day when Alya died. (verify the statement)

i woulkd like to refresh the memory of the witness by showing her the previous statement)

• So in that statement you had mentioned that she underwent unfair and unjust
treatment. What do you mean by that?

• Alya was forcibly pushed out of her house on demand of dowry which was witnessed by
whole mandi street. alya was subjected to the continuous torture both physically and
mentally by her in laws.

Prosecution Witness No. 2: Mrs. Kalyani

• For the record of the court introduce yourself.

• My name is Kalyani. I work as a housemaid in Mr. Sanjeev’s house and my age is 37 years.
• How are you related to this case?

• I am the housemaid in Mr. Sanjeev’s house and my testimony was taken on the day of the
death of Mrs. Alya. (verify the statement)

• As you mentioned that you used to work there so please elaborate the relationship
between the husband and wife.

• I used to mind my own business and never interfered in the matters of the family. There
used to be frequent fights between them which I heard and I had an idea that Mrs. Alya
was not keeping well.

• You mentioned in your previously recorded statement that you did not see her for the
past 6 months. Why is that so?

• It is because I was not allowed by the parents of Mr. Sanjeev to enter Mr. Sanjeev’s room
and it has been around 6 months since I saw her.
