“Pulling the Threads of Agriculture Development through Responsible

Architecture”

AGRO HUB ARCHITECTURE THESIS - 2020

INTRODUCTION
As urban dwellers become more aware of the environmental impacts of food
production and transportation, as well as the origin and security of what they
consume, urban agriculture is bound to grow and attract public and political
eyes. Bringing food production closer, in addition to being sustainable, is
pedagogical. However, generally with small size and other restrictions, the
concerns of growing food in cities differ somewhat from traditional farming

Agriculture Hub is an architecture innovation that will serve as the central

facility that is dedicated to rural revitalization and economic inclusiveness
within the locality. This project is a fundamental architectural initiative which is
specifically dedicated to the uplifting of farmers’ way of living and proving to
the nation and to the world that architecture can create an immense impact
in the agriculture development.

Understanding the farming scenario globally and focussing on the issues in

india. Learning the farming context of the sub content before proceeding with
design.Build an agricultural training center in rural area for small and marginal
farmer’s children. The young children will learn various new agricultural
technique in short duration courses. This centre will arrange exhibitions of
students research which can be easily seen by farmers.

ARCHITECTURAL CONCERNS OF THE PROJECT

 One of the major concerns of the project is to give the survivors a

REASON TO APPROACH the Centre.
 In order to contribute in the overall development of the survivors it is
important to have a LONG TERM EFFECT so that they can lead a
confident and independent life.
 The goal is to bring passive heating, cooling, ventilating, and lighting
technologies to farmers and rural communities, to reduce energy costs,
and create more sustainable farm buildings.

SPACIAL REQUIREMENTS

The thesis proposal will include the following, Grocery Mart, Seminar hall,
Research lab, Training Institute, Storage, Technology Centre, Plantation zones,
Guest House, Exploration gallery.

THRUST AREA

Sustainable approach

There are several incentives to adopting the sustainable approach to design

that will save the environment. The benefits not only apply to society at large,
but also to the individuals.

Economic sustainability- The income generated from the workshops of the

Centre will be used for the maintenance and development of the centre thus
contributing in its economic sustainability to an extent. Having a market place
will also act as a tool in bridging the gap between the communities thus
encouraging interaction between the survivors and the society.

CONCLUSION

My design intent is to create buildings that are true to materials, site specific,
and culturally sensitive. I combine traditional and contemporary architecture
to both tie our rural landscapes to history and show off our modern future.
Farmers, through every barn they choose to design and build, shape the
image of the rural landscape. With the help of good design they can leave a
legacy for many generations just as past generations have left us a rich
history.
