B. Developmental Activities:
1. Presentation
Luke always drinks 8 oz of tsokolate milk, while Richie always
drinks 12 oz lawot with milk. What is the least number of glasses they
could drink everyday to make sure that they get the same amount of
calories from milk daily?
Why is it important to drink milk everyday?
What do we get from drinking milk?
2. Discussion
How do we find the least common multiple of 8 and 12?
Using Listing Method
List all the multiples of 8 and 12
8 - 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56
12- 12, 24, 36, 48, 60
Common multiples – 24 and 48
Least Common Multiple – 24
Using Prime Factorization
8 12

4 2 6 2

2 2 3 2
8 =2x2x2
12 = 3 x 2 x 2
Least Common Multiple – 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 = 24

3. Fixing Skills

4. Generalization
In determining the LCM we use the listing method and prime factorization.
IV. Evaluation:

In a morning walk, Nanay Sesing, Tatay Henry and Gang Barbie step
off together in the Freedom Park near the Agusan Riverside . Their steps
measure 75 cm, 80 cm and 90 cm respectively. What is the minimum distance
each should walk so that all can cover the same distance in complete steps?

Solution : The distance required by each of them is same as well as minimum.

The minimum word in the question, that means you have to find the least common
multiple (LCM) So to find the LCM you can use a method of prime factorization.

Thus, the LCM of 75,80 and 90 is = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 5 x 5 = 3600

So the required minimum distance is 3600 cm
