As technology is changing very fast and computer science is rapidly growing.

From working in
solitary cubicles to working with artificial bots, automation has come a long way and has
changed how the modern generation works. Our personal life is highly dependent on the
technology that people have developed. Technology has advanced with years and it has changed
the way we purchase products, the way we live, the way we communicate, the way we travel, the
way we learn and so many changes have been brought about by these continuous technological
advancements. Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Cloud
Computing, Data Science, Internet of Things (IOT) and Cyber Security have become regarded as
the future of tomorrow’s workforce and culture.
Their major impacts on individual and society are:
Living: Everything around us now is becoming smart. Smart television, smart machines, smart
homes are making one’s life comfortable, lavish and well managed. Robots are becoming part of
the family and doing daily house work ranging from cleaning to cooking. Using Artificial
intelligence concepts, robots are now becoming self-learner as human.
Health: Computer is now playing important role in health care. Computers are now able to
analyze X-rays, MRIs, and CT scan more rapidly and accurately than the human. They are able
to diagnose diseases earlier and less invasively. They are providing assistance in treatment
decisions, clinical advantages and enhancing capabilities of doctors, surgeon, and radiologists.
They are also helpful to accelerate the search for life-saving pharmaceuticals and quality lab.
Heart monitors, sleep monitors, electronic health record management and EEG signal processing
algorithms are already on the research frontline. Implants and robotic arm connected to brain
letting paralyzed man regain feelings. Robots are not only used for treating humans, they are also
being used to treat plants, animals and even underwater species.
Education: Smart classes, smart universities are becoming reality. It has helped a lot to students
as well teachers. It is helping and facilitating the learning process, assessments of knowledge,
knowledge sharing and what not. Computer Mediated Communication (CMC), Virtual
communication such as Virtual Textual Reality (VTR) has made distance education possible.
Learning management system and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) are now becoming
vital elements of the education system. Cognitive- Emotional Pedagogy is also playing the
important role. Researchers are doing beyond one's imagination. For example, A new system
can teach people morse code in 4 hours using series of vibrations felt near the ear.
Inter-Personal connectivity: If we look around, it is hard to find people who don’t have their
head down using the smartphone. Everyone is living in this virtual world created by email, chat
and social networking sites. Individuals are now connecting to people or groups of known or
unknowns. Lots of learning and research is ongoing using web and video conferencing. Peoples
are sharing their interest, knowledge, activities as well as personal information. No one now
needs to remember anniversary, birthday, events or appointments.
Travel and Tourism: Computer reservation system, customer relationship management,
dynamic packaging has turned tourism into eTourism. Global Positioning System and Google
map playing the important role here. Finding route between cities, analyzing traffic, tracking
vehicle has now become children play. Smart cars are not new for us. Self-driving cars will
sooner come into the market. ITour is now taking form. Smart- phones are becoming smarter.
They are now able to plan a trip, book the convenient flight, hotel and car.
Economic Platform: Office automation, e-commerce are now matured enough. Internet is now
used for all types of financial trading. Recently demonetization has affected all of us. It has
forced us to use digital financial transactions. Digital transactions require strong security
techniques. The KYC process has also changed, where no documentation is required other than
usage of AADHAR and Biometric authentication.
Industries are moving from E-to-smart now. Computer Added Designing (CAD), Computer
Added Manufacturing (CAM) is making lots of breakthrough in businesses and
industries. Robots are working on factory floors. They don’t need leaves and can work 24X 7.
Humans and smart factories will be able to connect and communicate with each other via the
Internet of Things and the Internet of Services. Digitizations of business processes are now
helping sales teams as well. Using neural nets they are now able to recommend which prospects
to contact next or what kinds of products to be offered.
Scope of Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, IOT, Data Science and Cloud Computing
Expect rise in these hot areas in India in coming days. Big IT companies in India – viz. TCS,
Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant and others may soon begin looking for Data Scientist, cyber security
experts, ethical hackers, IOT & Cloud Computing experts. TCS’s ex-CEO, Mr. S Ramadorai,
who currently heads NSDA aka National Skills Development Agency has said that the demand
for experts in these areas is expected to growing coming days. He believes hiring and training
young professionals to work in the domain is the need of the time. Big Internet companies like
Google, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo and others have already began offering huge prizes online by
performing quizzes and competitions.
