Offline Google Maps Tool


User Guide
The Offline Google Maps Tool will allow the use of Google Maps on the Smart Dispatch
Clients if an external internet connection is not available.

Offline Google Maps are a licenced feature that can be ordered from Hytera via our
network of approved dealers and is priced on a per Smart Dispatch server basis.

This user guide details the process for installing and using the Offline Google Maps Tool,
adding the additional plugins for the Smart Dispatch Clients and selecting the appropriate
maps on Smart Dispatch.

1. Installing Offline Google Tools

All the necessary files are contained in the file Offline_Google_Tools.zip.


Extract the contents of this archive into a directory on the computer hard drive.
The directory will contain the following files:

Open the Plugin folder which contains the following files:

Copy these files into the following folder:


C:\Program Files\Hytera\SmartDispatch4.x\Client\Plugin

2. Download Map Data

Run the Google Map Tool application and the following screen will be displayed:

The next step is to define the area of the map that you wish to download.

Adjust the zoom level and map centre to show the required map area.

The current zoom level is shown at the top left hand corner of the map.

Click on the Draw Region button at the top of the page, the mouse pointer will change to a
+ when moved over the map. Click and hold the left mouse button and move the cursor to
define the area as shown below:

The latitude and longitude of the four corners of the defined area will be shown on the tool
bar at the left hand side of the screen

Select either Map or Satellite view to define which set of images are downloaded. If you
require both sets of maps, you will need to download two sets of images.

Select the level of mapping that you require on the tool bar at the left hand side of the
screen. Zoom level 20 will show a map area of approximately 100m x 100m.

screen. Zoom level 20 will show a map area of approximately 100m x 100m.

The total number of images that will be downloaded is also shown. The greater the zoom
level, the greater the number of images that will be downloaded.

Define the folder on the PC hard drive where you wish to store the downloaded images.

Click Download to begin storing the data. A progress bar will show how many of the files
have been downloaded.

3. Selecting Map Data

Start the Smart Dispatch client and log in your user account.

Click on the Smart Dispatch icon at the top left hand corner of the screen to access the
configuration menu

Click on Settings and select Map Settings

Click on the browse button and select the folder where the downloaded map data is
stored.

Click the Save button at the bottom of the screen and restart the dispatcher client.

The Smart Dispatch client will now use the downloaded map images.

NOTE: If you have multiple clients that require offline mapping, you will need to need to
copy the downloaded map images to the hard drive of each dispatcher client PC.

If each client requires its specific area, then the map data for each area will need to be
downloaded and stored into its own folder.
