Preface
1 Preface
This section contains general information about the document, the means of its design and use, as well
as how to get additional technical support for the product.
1.1 Scope
This document describes the SecurOS basic features of the user interface on an Operator Workstation,
as well as procedures to perform common security tasks. It contains illustrated examples of working
with the system.
It is assumed that the user has already deployed the security network physically and installed the
SecurOS software on all computers of this network.
This manual is recommended to read after the SecurOS simple configuration, to get acquainted with the
product's basic functionalities.
If you have any questions after reading this manual, please address them to your system administrator
or supervisor.

Launching SecurOS
2 Launching SecurOS
To launch SecurOS manually, click the Start button in the Windows taskbar. The system will display
the Start menu. Sequentially select All Programs SecurOS SecurOS menu items (see Figure 1).
Additional Information
The system can also be launched by means of SecurOS shortcuts in the Start menu, on the Windows Desktop or in
the Windows taskbar.
Note. Starting the system by one of these alternative methods is possible if the corresponding SecurOS
shortcuts are created by the administrator at system configuration.

Authorization
3 Authorization
System login is done from the Authorization window which is displayed after successful system
startup and loading of configuration (see Figure 2).
To log in enter user name and the personal account password in the corresponding fields. Click the
Login button.
Additional Information
1. To get a User/Password personal account, contact the system administrator.
2. When starting the system from a "Remote Operator Workstation", in addition to the authorization parameters
specified in the Connect field, it is required to set a Video Server IP address to which it is necessary to connect to.
To get the Video Server IP address contact the system administrator.
3. The option to log in automatically can be configured by the system administrator.
Note. If login attempts with the wrong login information are performed, the Authorization Error window
will be displayed. If the incorrect data is entered 3 times in a row, the system will enter a 30-second waiting
mode, then the next login attempt will be given.

User Interface
4 User Interface
This section describes basic components of the GUI.
Some applications can be grouped into independent Desktops. Only one Desktop's applications can be
used simultaneously. The number of Desktops and its components are set by the system administrator.
Example. For example, the administrator has set two operator Desktops. The first Desktop includes only one
application — the Monitor (see Figure 3), the second Desktop consists of the Monitor and the Map v2
applications (see Figure 4).

Figure 4. Desktop 2
Additional Information
The Control Panel can also be used to launch special system control commands. The given possibility depends on
the system settings.
Only active Desktops and Macros are displayed on the Control Panel. The number of displayed objects of
each type is defined by the system settings and changes dynamically. If the max value is exceeded, all
additional objects are hidden and can be activated from the appropriate menu:
By default, after logging in, the system Control Panel is hidden. To display it after logging in, press and
hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard while moving the mouse pointer to the top edge of the screen.

User Interface
Additional Information
The Control Panel can also be activated by double clicking on the SecurOS application icon in the Windows taskbar
(system tray), or by means of the application icon context menu.
This section describes the following operations performed with the help of the Control Panel:
Desktop Administration;
User Session Administration;
Hide Control Panel.
For switching between Desktops (or for Desktop activation if all Desktops are hidden) click the
corresponding Desktop button, or select the Desktop from the menu (see Control Panel section).
Shutdown system button ( , see Control Panel section) and select the necessary command
from the drop-down list. A detailed description is in the Changing User And Logging Off section.

By default (if default settings were not changed) the Monitor opens automatically when an
administrator logs into the system. There can be several Monitors configured by the administrator in the
system. The settings of each Monitor can different.

2. Click on the required one. Video from the camera will be displayed in theMonitor active cell.
Video received from all cameras connected to the system and added to the Monitor's Camera list, is
displayed on the Monitor simultaneously, in a page mode. The Monitor page is the working area that
contains the number of cells which is defined by a current layout. The Monitor layout is set by mouse
click on the corresponding button of the Layouts Bar (see figure 8) which is highlighted.
The number of Monitor pages depends both on the current layout, and from the total quantity of cameras
connected to the system. If the total quantity of the cameras connected to the system exceeds an
admissible number of the cells displayed on one page at the selected layout, the remaining cells are
displayed on the next page. Switching to the next page (paging) in manual or in automatic mode is
carried out by means of Camera Control Bar (see figure 9).
Example. If 20 cameras are connected to the system and the 3x3 layout is selected then the total number of
Monitor pages is 3, thus the last page will contain only 2 cells.
By default, the camera order in the cells of the Monitor pages is set by the system and can be changed by
the user.

Changing User And Logging Off
Note. Logging off from one user is done to give control to another user. When the new user logs in, the
system starts with the settings defined by the new user's User Rights Policy. This procedure does not lead to a
stop of system operation and its restart.
Additional Information
Log off and system shutdown operations can also be done by the commands of the SecurOS icon in the notification
field of the Windows task bar (system tray). Shutting down the system can also be done from the Authorization
window after user accounts definition.

Additional Information
It is also possible to switch to the playback mode by right-clicking anywhere in the live video of a camera cell. When
entering the playback mode, the time-line will be visible. The record counter pointer of the time-line will be
automatically placed in the front of the last recorded video file (video files that are still "writing" might not be

The time-line is designed to quickly navigate through the video records using the playback control
buttons. Playback controls will include standard (start/stop playback, pause, video record scrolling)
and special operations (frame review, playback speed control, etc..).
The pointer is set on the desired position of the video record by clicking on it. To be able to scroll
through the time-line, the cursor should look as in Figure 21.
On the time-line, video records of a limited time frame are displayed. To view video records outside the
currently displayed time frame, it is necessary to change/shift the displayed time-line. To do this click
the time-line and holding the mouse button move the cursor in the necessary direction (right - for older
records; left - for newer records).
To change the time intervals on the time-line click the left (to increase intervals) or right (to decrease
intervals) mouse button on the time scale.
It is possible to shift and scale a time-line if the cursor takes the form illustrated in Figure 22.

Searching the video archive for events in a specific part of a camera view is called Smart Search. Smart
Search is performed with the help of DVR search panel and is possible under the following conditions:
1. The Zone object, specified for the given camera, should be configured to perform smart search (see
SecurOS Administration Guide).
2. The search area (mask) specified in the DVR search panel should be completely covered by the
motion detection Zone area defined for the given Camera.
To search alarms by mask within the scope of the motion detection zone do the following:
1. Activate the desired camera cell;
Note. Searching alarms by mask is always performed only for the active camera.
2. Activate DVR search panel and select Alarm search - active camera mask mode (see
Searching Alarms and Bookmarks in Archives);
3. Define the Start time and End time manually or set current date and time using the Get from camera
button.
4. To create the mask click the Draw mask button. Define the mask. To draw the mask, left-click and
drag the mouse cursor inside the camera cell. As a result a rectangle will be drawn. In the camera
cell, some rectangles can overlap or be completely separated. The drawn rectangles will be yellow in
color. To edit or remove unwanted parts of the mask, right-click and drag with the mouse cursor.
Warning! Make sure that the selected search mask covers at least one of camera detection zones! The system
will search for motion events within the specified mask. To configure camera motion detection zone(s),
consult with a system administrator.
In the Search result panel there will be a list of looked-for alarms specified by alarm time and search
mask. Alarm records are arranged in chronological order. The record syntax is the following::
