A Week
Monday, January 25, 2016
Sight Word: saw, with, that
8:20-8:40 am Welcome Students/Morning Work/Check Folders/Collect Lunch Money
8:40-9:20 am Math Lesson—Sit next to Bryan T., Genard C. and Kendall S. on the carpet and offer support during
the lesson. Make sure to go over with the students how many students like a certain ice cream
flavor. Also go over which flavor is most liked and which flavor is least liked.
9:20-9:58 am Groups: Notes:
Math Life Preservers (John, Amirah and Kendall):
Remediation For the first three minutes, you will show the students the number 11, using tally
Centers marks. TSW have to count and write the number down. Then you will show the
students the number 8 and they will have to use tally marks to show that number.
For the remaining time, the TA will be reviewing how to collect data using tally
marks with the students. TTW go over how to collect data by having the students
do a round robin activity. Each student will be given a tally mark recording sheet.
Each student will be given a dice with different winter pictures on it. TSW roll the
dice one at a time, while they are rolling the dice the whole group will record the
information on their tally mark recording sheet. The TA will make sure that she
goes over how to slash the 5th tally mark and then start a new bundle (group). The
TA will keep the tally chart recording sheet so they can create a bar graph from it
next week. Objective: SOL K.13, MA.K.6.1 The student will gather data by
counting and tallying. Materials: White Boards, Dry Erase Markers, winter dice,
and tally mark recording sheet.

For the first three minutes, you will show the students the number 12, using tally
marks. TSW have to count and write the number down. Then you will show the
students the number 10 and they will have to use tally marks to show that
number.

Arts Centers 1. Review the new sight words that were discussed this morning. (saw, with,

2. Have the students practice spelling the sight words orally together and have
the students develop a sentence about each sight word. (If time, TA will write
a sentence the students develop about the sight word—high students can
write the sentence themselves).
3. Have the students practice writing the sight words on their white boards.
4. Have the students write their sight words on their index cards to take home
for practice.

The TA will go over with the students the season winter and how it often
snows during this time. TSW write a sentence about what their favorite thing
to do in the snow is and write a sentence about it. (Tiana, Amirah, Avyion,
Maya and John will write two sentences. Sean, Nazalie, Michael, Genard,
Kendall, Bryan and Isabella will write one sentence.) The TA will attach the
sentence to the picture of the students trying to catch the snowflake in their
mouths.
Materials: Writing Paper, pencil, snowflake die cut, pipe cleaner, and color
picture of the student.

can determine which color is liked the most and liked the least. Make sure that they see that when they
are creating a bar graph that they need to start at the bottom/left and go up/right. Go over with them
which special is the most liked and which special is liked the least.

Arts Centers 1) The TA will work with the students on their weekly poetry book. The TA will
then have the students glue down the poem in their poetry book. The TA will

point out the rhyming words and then they will glue it down in their poetry
book and color the picture in. The students will also have to locate the sight
words by circling them.

Anchors (Sean, Bryan, Nazalie, Michael and Genard)


For the first few minutes, have Sean go over the teen numbers by just looking at them.
Show Bryan, Michael, Nazalie and Genard the numbers 10 and 12 and they will have to
use tally marks to show that number.
For the remaining time, the TA will be reviewing how to display collected data using bar
graphs. TTW go over how to collect data and then display it using a bar graph by having
the students work on the Math Connects pgs. 339-340. Objective: SOL K.13, MA.K.6.1
The student will gather data by counting and tallying. MA.K.6.2 The student will

Language First Pull Michael, Bryan and Sean to work on identifying letter sounds (Nn-Zz)
Arts *Pull Tiana and Amirah to go over beginning blends. Review with them the different
Remediation sounds that the two letters make together. Use the beginning blends chart.
Centers
The TA will go over with the students the season winter and how it often snows during
this time. TSW write a sentence about what their favorite thing to do in the snow is and
write a sentence about it. (Tiana, Amirah, Avyion, Maya and John will write two
sentences. Sean, Nazalie, Michael, Genard, Kendall, Bryan and Isabella will write one
sentence.) The TA will attach the sentence to the picture of the students trying to catch
the snowflake in their mouths.
Materials: Writing Paper, pencil, snowflake die cut, pipe cleaner, and color picture of
the student.
