Chapter 1 Starting and Finishing
1-1. Starting SMV (Service Manual Viewer)
When double click the icon on PC’s desktop, SMV
(Service Manual Viewer) system will start up and the SMV
Main Menu screen will be displayed.

Click and button on each page to return to the SMV
Main Menu screen.
When click the button on the SMV Main Menu screen,
SMV system will be closed

Currently selected vehicle information is displayed on this

It shows 'model year' and 'model' selected on Vehicle


Information setting screen.
It shows applied model year of each manual for the model
that is currently being selected.

The items changed by this update are being written in this


window.
Clicking on this button more details can be found.

The function to be mentioned or countermeasure of FAQ


is being written in this window.
Clicking on this button more details can be found.

Chapter 3 Selection of models (Vehicle Information setting)


Before viewing the manual contents, please confirm / select the vehicle model by following steps.
(There is a model that can be displayed even if the vehicle model is not selected on the viewing the 'Pre-delivery
Inspection & Periodical Maintenance (PDI)')
3-1. Enter “Select Vehicle” Menu.
When clicking [Select Vehicle] on SMV main menu, the next
‘Vehicle information setting screen’ will appear.

3-2. “Select Vehicle” Menu operation.


a) Currently selected Vehicle information is displayed in a field of each
item. (Blank space means information of the item is not selected.)
b) When you modify vehicle information, click button and
reselect the information.
c) When you click button, history of vehicle information setting is
displayed, and you can reselect it.
When you close this screen, click button.

Chapter 4 Browsing Various Manuals

4-1. Search for appropriate page


(1) Click a manual button ([Technical Information Manual],
[Workshop Manual] or [Body Repair Manual]) on the SMV Main
Menu.

Note:
As for [Pre-Delivery Inspection and Periodic Maintenance] button,
refer to Section 5. (Not available in Aus)

(2) Select a search method from (a) (b) (c) (d) corresponding to your
(a) purpose to display appropriate page of the manual.

(b) Note:
When clicking button on this screen, you can return to the

SMV Main Menu.

(a) Table of Contents Search

Search information using table of contents.

(i) All of the list of selected search method appears on the list of
the screen. When you click a title with mark, the mark turn
to , and titles on lower layer are displayed.

(ii) Select title with with mark and click button, next
search screen appears.
In addition, keyboard is available on the GROUP INDEX
SEARCH screen.Operation on the keyboard is as follows,
Cursor  Key Shift selected line upward.
Cursor  Key Store titles of lower layer.
Cursor  Key Deploy titles of lower layer.
Cursor  Key Shift selected line downward.
Fix and display contents of selected

(b) Information Type Search

Search information by narrowing down information type such as


‘Troubleshooting’,‘Removal and installation’, ’Circuit Diagram’ etc.

(i) Select an information type to search and click button.

(ii) Select an information title to view from narrowed list and click
button. -- to 4-2.

(c) Alphabetical Contents Search


Search for information using the full-text search function.

(i) Please input the keyword to be searched information and


press button,

If you will be narrow a search with more than two keywords,


space is required between each keyword.

Moreover, immediate search will be possible by specifying


group to be searched.

Launch On-screen keyboard


When you close the keyboard, click .

(ii) The search is performed against all the contents and an
additional display is done on the search retrieval screen
every time the keyword becomes a hit.
If you find appropriate content on the search, it can be

immediately discontinued to press button.
END
Please select title to be browsed and press button.
After the search termination, please refer to " to IV-2" for the
way of looking at contents.

If the dialog shown on the left would be displayed when the


search is terminated or discontinued, then please press
"OK" button.

(d) Information No. Search


Search information by entering complete Information No.

(i) Enter the searching Information number completely and


click button.-- to 4-2.

Note:
Information No is the number assigned to each page of
manuals. It appears along the bottom edge of each manual
display screen.

4-2. Display of manual page
Displays the appropriate page of the manual.

SMV is opened by the new window (M.U.T.-3 Only)

Go to the Table of contents including currently displayed

 Illustration Zooming
Clicking a boxed illustration on manual pages opens a full-page
illustration window (left fig.).
Clicking a point on the window allows further zooming.
Close enlarged illustration

NOTE:
It's possible to operate an illustration using an icon of Adobe
Reader.

 Bookmarking Function
(1) Register Bookmark
Click on registering page, and the left screen appears. Click
then .

(2) Display the Bookmarked Page


When clicking during the SMV is running, the left screen
appears. Select a title of the page to be displayed, and click
.
When dropping bookmark, select the title and click then
.

 MSB View Function
If function button appears, the page has been revised and you
can check the revision information by viewing electronic MSB
(Mitsubishi Service Bulletin).

(1) Click button.

(2) If the page has two or more revision information, the left screen
appears. (If not, goes directly to (3))
Select a title you want to check, then click .

(3) The MSB is displayed.


When you print out the full page MSB, click icon on upper area
of the screen.

Note:
Clicking allows you to print the currently showing screen
only.

4-3. MSB list view function
It is a function which enables SMV to display all list of MSB which have already installed in the PC. Setting
search key, it is possible to narrow a search with more specified. MSB list view function is only available on the
SMV (Main), but there is a possibility can not be displayed MSB depends on data format.

Click icon for installed MSB list view.
If no MSB data is installed, it is not available.
(The icon is turned grey out)

Search condition specified screen


Specify condition to narrow a search to installed MSB.
[MODEL]: Specify model from the list
[ISSUE YEAR]: Specify issued year from the list
[DOCUMENT TYPE]: Specify document type (one of Service
Manual, Technical Information Manual and Body Repair Manual)
from the list
[GROUP]: Specify group from the list. In order to specify group,
document type has to be specified in advance.
[ISSUE NO.]: Specify MSB issued No. with keyboard.
Coincidence data with correspond to MSB issued No. completely
or partially will be displayed.
All search conditions are specified, then click OK button to start narrow a search.

A hit list screen
Because of specification for the number of characters, it will not be
displayed title and group completely depends on list, however all
description will be displayed in the message field located bottom of
screen with selecting each list.
Select MSB you want and click OK button, then it will be displayed. For
your information, available MSB is only PDF format and in case of
HTML format search function is available but can not be displayed
content.

Selected MSB is displayed.
Pressing close button, you can be return to previous screen (A hit list
screen).

4-4. SMV Multiple Startup(M.U.T.-3 PC only)

1. Under the same conditions of Model year and Model, SMV can be opened up multiple contents of manuals
separately.
By changing it on the Task-bar, it enable you to browse various contents as you like.
2. SMV which would be started up for the first time is called
SMV(Main), and others which would be started up by the
button located in the SMV button field and icon located on the
Task-tray is called SMV(Sub).

3. The difference of each functions for SMV(Main) and SMV(Sub) is as follows,

4. Basically, left-most SMV on the Task-bar must be SMV(Main), all of others SMV must be SMV(Sub). There
are no limit can be started up SMV(Sub) in particular, however we recommend that SMV(Sub) to be started
up should be up to 4 contents as a guideline in terms of memory consumption.

5. When selected Model in the vehicle select screen of SMV(Main) will be changed and Configuration screen
will be opened up in SMV(Main), all of available SMV(Sub) will be closed after confirmation dialog box
appeared.

4-5. View Method of PDI Manual (Not available in Aus)
(1) Select the
[Pre-Delivery Inspection & Periodical Maintenance] button to
view the contents.

(2) A confirmation message of vehicle type will be displayed.


 When the information is proper, press button. --to (3)
 When you modify either TYPE or YEAR, press the button
and reselect the information.
 When you modify whole information, press button and
reselect the information.

(3) Viewer starts by pressing button on (2).


Select a language to display the PDI.

(4) The file of ‘Pre-delivery Inspection & Periodical


Maintenance Manual’ is displayed.
 When you close the window, click the , or select [File]
then [Close].

Chapter 5 Option Setting Function
5-1. Option Setting Function
(1) Click the [Configuration] button.

(2) Select a tab and a button corresponding to your purpose.


[Environment]
[Change Environmental setting]—[Password is required]
To set the drive of PC, which the Service manual data should be
installed.

[Show environmental setting]—


To view the settings.

[Printer set]—
[Environment]
To set output conditions of the printer.

[Keyboard set]—
To select row of keys: Alphabetical-order or qwerty.

[Select Language for display]—


[Display language setup (system)]—
To select a language displaying in whole screens of SMV.
[Display language setup (service manual)]—
To select a written language of the Service manual.

Caution: Please select the language (for Service manual)


which installation has completed.

[Data Update]
[System Information]—
To view versions of installed software on the PC.

[Service manual]—
To view Installed Service Manual information, or to delete Service
Manual data.
When deletion of Service Manual data is requirerd, ask an
administrator about the method to delete.
[Data update]

Chapter 6 SMV Simple Browse Function

6-1. Operating SMV Simple Browse Function


This function allows you to browse the Service Manuals simply
which is read from inserted CD/DVD-ROM, without installing
any data.

(1) When you set CD/DVD-ROM into CD/DVD drive, the W/M CD/
DVD menu screen appears automatically.
Click [Browse (by Simple Viewer)] button.

Note:
Though clicking [Browse (by SMV)] button displays the SMV
Main Menu, you cannot view Service manuals by the SMV
system until you perform the installation as usual.

(2) Select a type of manual and model year, on the upper left
portion of the screen.

(3) Click a title with mark from menu-tree on the left window.
When you click a title with no mark, titles in lower layer are
displayed.
