The purpose of this paper was to report results of a study on the investigation of the Internet
access and usage by secondary school students in Morogoro municipality in Tanzania. A simple random
sampling technique was used to select 120 students from six schools. The data was collected through a
questionnaire. A quantitative approach using the survey research design was used. Data was analyzed
using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 19. The results found out that of 120 students
involved in the study, 78 (87.6%) who were the majority indicated that they were using Internet services
for playing and downloading music, 73 (82.0%) for searching for academic information, 72 (80.9%)
indicated playing and downloading games, 55( 61.8%) said browsing for fun, 51 (57.3%) use Internet for
visiting different websites while 50 (56.2%) indicated that they use Internet to read online newspapers and
40 (44.9%) for instant messaging. On the issues of access and use, 58 (48.3%) respondents indicated
that Internet accessibility in their schools was intermediate while only 26 (21.7%) stated that the Internet
accessibility in their schools was high. It was also reveled that majority of students did not have enough
skills for Internet browsing and Internet speed was slow. It was recommended that respondents should be
made aware of the importance of using Internet services for searching academic information rather than
use it for entertainment.

study information

3. The evolution of technology and the development of mobile devices are changing
the way we live and how we access knowledge. Learning with mobile devices has
become a social rather than technical phenomenon in the 21st century. This descriptive
study explores the experiences and perceptions of the Senior High School (SHS)
students on how mobile devices can affect their learning process. Five (5) private
schools in the Philippines were considered in this study, totaling four hundred fifty four
SHS students (n=454). In this particular study, the main source of data was taken from
the Questionnaire designed in a mixed format. The researchers analyzed the data vis-a-
vis K to 12 trends on mobile devices that may be applicable in integrating with the
current curriculum for senior high schools in the Philippines. Results in this study
indicated a positive consequence in the students learning process. The need for a more
meaningful support and guidance on how to systematically make use of the mobile
devices in academic activities should be actualized.

findings. A majority of the respondents female had very least family income; the parents’ extra income
very small. Many students recreationally oriented, the high effect on their academic performance. Both
the junior and senior students excellent. Pearson r correlation used to test the relationship between

significantly correlated with social orientation. Sex significantly associated with recreational beliefs,
while family income significantly connected with social and recreational orientations but not with

5. Interaction creates an essential environment in learning Mathematics effectively and opportunities for
teachers and students to talk about their own thinking, and reflection on students’ learning process. Since interaction
in the classroom can reveal students’ views and ideas, it would be important to study the underlying relationship
between internet self-efficacy and interaction in Mathematics courses. The study used descriptive-correlational
technique involving 439 students from the selected universities and colleges in Davao City, and criterion sampling was
used. Findings revealed that the respondents had extensive internet self-efficacy and interaction in Mathematics
courses. The results further revealed a strong significant relationship between internet self-efficacy and interaction in
Mathematics courses. The results of regression analysis also revealed that the three predictors of internet self-efficacy
had significant influence on interaction in Mathematics courses and suggested that a reasonable percentage of the
variance on interaction in Mathematics courses can be explained by the three predictors. Furthermore, among the
three predictors, extent of self-efficacy in system manipulation was the most influential factor that contributed to the
level of interaction in Mathematics courses. Lastly, future research should include more variables that could somehow
affect the level of interaction in Mathematics courses. Article DOI: https://dx.doi.org/10.20319/mijst.2018.41.4060 This
