Digital Security Controls Ltd. wa rrants that fo r a period of 12 m onths f rom the date of purcha se, the
product shall be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and that in
fulfillment of any breach of such wa rranty, Digital Security Controls Ltd. shall, at its option, repair or
replace the defective equipment upon return of the equipment to its repair depot. This warranty
applies only to defects in part s and workm an ship and not to damage incurred in shipping or
handling, or damage due to cause s beyond the control of Digital Security Controls Ltd. such a s
lightning, excessive voltage, m echanical shock, water damage, or damage arising out of abuse,
alteration or im proper application of the equipment.
The foregoing warranty shall apply only to the original buyer, and is and shall be in lieu of any and all
other wa rrantie s, whether exp re ssed or im plied and of all other obligations or liabilities on the part of
Digital Security Controls Ltd. Digital Security Control s Ltd. neither assumes, nor authorize s an y other
person purporting to act on its behalf to m odify or to change this warrant y, nor to assume for it any
other warranty o r liability concerning this product.
In no event shall Digital Security Controls Ltd. be liable for any direct, indirect or con sequential
damages, loss of anticipated profits, loss of time or any other losse s incu rred by the buyer in
connection with the purchase, in stallation or operation or failure of this product.
M otion detectors can only detect m otion within the designated area s a s shown in their respective
installation instructions. They cannot discriminate between intruders and intended occupants. Motion
detectors do not provide volum etric area protection. They have multiple beams of detection and
m otion can only be detected in unobst ructed areas covered by the se beams. They cannot detect
m otion which occurs behind walls, ceilings, floor, clo sed doors, glass pa rtitions, glass doors o r
windows. Any t ype of tampering whether intentional or unintentional such a s masking, painting, or
sp raying of any m aterial on the lenses, m irrors, windows o r any other part of the detection system
will impair its proper operation.
Passive infrared motion detectors operate by sen sing change s in temperature. Howeve r their
effectiveness can be reduced when the ambient tem perature rise s near or above body temperature
or if there are intentional or unintentional source s of heat in or near the detection area. Som e of
these heat sou rce s could be heaters, radiators, stove s, barbeque s, fireplaces, sunlight, steam vents,
lighting and so on.
WARNI NG: Digital Security Contr ols Ltd. recommends that the entire system be c om pletel y
tested on a regular basis. How ev er, despite frequent testing, and due to, but not limited to,
criminal tampering or elec trical disrupti on, it is possible for this pr oduct to fail to per form as
expected.

Introduction
The RFDM- 1 is a one-channel monaur al frequency agil e audio/video modulator. The
modulator adds an RF (video) signal from sec urity c amer as or other video sourc es to
your video distribution netw ork us ing an unus ed c hannel. The RFDM-1 cov ers UHF
channels 14 to 78 and CA TV channels 65 to 135.

Before installatio n, c onfirm that the package contains the follow ing parts : one RFDM-1
Modulator, one A C A dapter , one video patch cor d and one audio patc h c ord.
Insta llation Ins tructions
We r ecommend installing the modulator c los e to the signal s ource. How ever, y ou may
choos e to install the modulator at the signal dis tr ib ution end in a enclosure cabinet.
Installation instructions for both options follow below . Obs erve proper coax w iring
practices to ensure proper operatio n.
At Signal Source
1. Loc ate the RFDM- 1 w ithin tw o feet of the s ignal source and an A C outlet.
2. Connec t the RF (video) output from the video s ource to the RFDM- 1 “V IDEO IN” jack
using the s upplied v id eo patch cord. See Figur e B.
3. (Optional) Connect the audio output from the source to the RFDM- 1 “A UDIO IN” jack
(3.5mm) using the s upplied audio patch cor d. See Figure B.
4. Home r un an RG6 coax cable from the RFDM- 1 to the enclos ure cabinet housing the
video distr ibution modules. Allow sufficient length at both ends of the r un to av oid
stress and for proper ter mination and trim out. Terminate both ends of the coax
cable w ith male F-type c onnectors. A t the s ource end, connect the coax c able to the
“ RF OUT” connector on the RFDM-1. At the distr ibution end, connect the coax cable
to an unused por t of a cable combiner , e.g. HS-V H400. Please r efer to the
installation instructions included w ith the combiner to ins ur e proper operation.

At Signal Distribution Channel Range Settings
1. Choose a s uit able loc ation in the Conc ourse cabinet to install the HS-V M1100. The The dipsw itches on the front panel of the HS-V M1100 modulator are used to s elect the
recommended loc ation is near the v ideo c ombiner, e.g. HS-V H400. This installation range of channels av ailable. See figur e A.

Note: Use only the A C adapter supplied with the HS-VM1100.
